“Flame shouldn’t be allowed to see that girl.” I said loudly as I walked into our building. Tamwyn didn’t look up from his work.
“Why not?” he asked, in a way that I new meant he wasn’t listening.
“In the prison!” I screamed at him. He didn’t even flinch. I hate when he ignored me when I want to storm and rage. Him ignoring me only fuels my anger. “That Earth girl in the prison”. I shouted. “He visits that girl every day. He doesn’t even know what she’s done to land herself in there, yet they talk for hours! I don’t understand why they trust each other!”
Tamwyn was silent for a while, but I knew he had heard and was thinking about what he wanted to say. He takes too long to think about simple responses, in my opinion. But I wait, my breathing still heavy while he comes up with an answer.
“Maybe” He began slowly, “She’s not the enemy.”
“She was a spy!” I shrieked, completely baffled by this statement, not comprehending where he was going with this. “She was sent here to gather intelligence on our so called ‘war tactics’, or was sent here as an assassin! What else could she be besides the enemy? She’s an Earth.”
Tamwyn’s next words were slow and deliberate.
“Maybe she’s a messenger.”
