“Luke!” I called out of the training center door. He was only ten yards away talking to that girl Amber or Ember or whatever, but stopped when he heard me. He hugged her goodbye and walked over to the door.

“Yea Star?” He asked, absolutely cheery like he always is. In fact, he looked almost unnaturally peppy, like last night had never occurred.

“Go to the library and get me any work of fiction that you think I should read.”

He looked puzzled, but pleasantly surprised, and turned on his heel and walked away towards the library. About fifteen minutes later, he returned with a book titled Child of The Dark Prophecy by some unimportant man name T.A. Barron. I raised my eyebrow at his choice.

“What is this?” I asked him. I had expected something that seemed less out of the ordinary.

“An extraordinary work of fiction, with a familiar face in between the pages.” He said, grinning broadly with a look that plainly said ‘I know something you don’t’.

I began to read, and I immediately knew why Luke had chosen this. This was the book that Tamwyn’s parents had fallen in love with, and had insisted upon Tamwyn ending up being his true name. I understood why the loved it. The ideas were absurd, and I could not believe how many authors had borrowed this “Merlin” idea.  But I fell in love with it too, the crazy characters and the setting and the plot line and everything. It made me think of my youth, back before earning my true name, before becoming Starfire the Invincible, when I would sit in that library for hours on end, reading and reading and reading and reading, determined to absorb everything that the library had to offer me. It made me quite sad, so I closed the book gently and left in the corner of the room. Maybe I would return to it later. Or maybe not. Either way, I couldn’t take any more of it right now.
