Old poetry for an old love.

It hurts when I think of all I've lost;
So foolish a love at so high a cost.
What was once the world lies six feet beneath.
You pulled your strings, lied through your teeth.
I wish that you would let me go;
A thought I loathed so long ago.
But times have changed, and so have I.
I guess it's time we said good-bye.
I know you'll be happy before too long;
But in my heart is where you belong.
