We entered the front door causing Marie to rush to her feet. “Aaron, I was worried to death about you,” Marie said as she swooped over to me and squeezed me.
“Well, it's not like I was hit by a car or something,” I muttered.
“Well, if you want to get technical, you really were hit by a car,” Chobi scoffed.
“Where's Cloud?” I asked then Marie sighed.
“He hasn't been home for hours now. I'm really starting to get worried about him,” Marie sighed. “He must be having a hard time right now though,” Marie said as she let me go.
“What are you talking about?” Chobi and I both asked.
“I never did tell you did I?” Marie frowned.
“Tell me what?” I asked.
“Well--,” she began.
“You have powers?” Clora shouted from the stairs.
“You didn't explain to her about us?” I asked angrily then Marie frowned.
“Well forgive me Mr. Grumpy, I can't remember the details. You tell her about it,” Marie hissed back as she grabbed Chobi's arm. “I'm going to take the other half of you and finish making cookies,” Marie said as Chobi lit up with joy.
“Yes,” he laughed then I looked up at Clora when Marie and Chobi left the room.
“Chobi and I are not normal kids,” I said as she looked down at me.
“Yeah, I figured that out when you created a force field and literally demolished the front of a car,” Clora grumbled.
“I saved your life,” I hissed back at her as I folded my arms.
“You didn't have to,” she hissed back just as angrily.
“You don't sound very thankful for it,” I yelled back.
“Maybe I'm not. You're not being too nice right now Aaron Secret,” she yelled over me.
“Oh, you really want to go there?” I asked her angrily.
“Oh, I already went there,” she laughed angrily.
“I'm so mean because you made me this way,” I growled at her.
“You influenced yourself Aaron,” she growled. “You're throwing a tantrum over nothing,” she huffed then I ground my teeth together.
“You think this is a tantrum? I'll show you a tantrum,” I hissed then everything in the room began to lift and swirl around startling Clora into falling over. “This is a tantrum,” I yelled as I threw the items around, smashing vases and picture frames.
“Aaron,” Marie gasped when she entered the room then Chobi tackled me over.
“What's wrong with you? Roy just told you not to use your powers,” Chobi yelled angrily at me and I was surprised. I'd never seen Chobi this angry before. I shoved him off of me.
“Aaron, look at this mess you've made,” Marie hissed then Cloud came in the front door holding a small parcel in which had been burned around the edges.
“What in great heavens happened here?” Cloud gasped then Marie moaned in anger.
“There you are Cloud. I've been trying to call you for hours. How come you haven't answered your phone?” Marie asked then he frowned.
“I dropped it in the sewer,” he answered.
“The sewer? How did you manage to drop it in the sewer?” she asked him.
“I was getting out of the car when you called and I tried to answer it when it slipped and fell into a storm drain,” he answered then I stood up and lifted everything around until placing the items back in place. “Aaron, what's wrong?” Cloud said after me but I refused to speak as I shuffled upstairs and to my room.
I sat in my room for hours until a light knock came from my door. “It's me,” Clora said from the other side and she tried to open my door only to find it was locked. “Aaron, I want to apologize to you,” Clora said.
“How long are you staying here?” I asked her.
“My parents said it might be months before they can get here,” Clora answered.
“Don't talk to me until then,” I muttered and there was a long moment of silence.
“Chobi explained to me what happened to you when you were young. I understand you now and I'm sorry,” Clora proceeded.
“You weren’t sorry before?” I asked her.
“I was. I was always sorry. I remembered what it was that made me so scared of you too,” Clora muttered and I was silent.
“What was it?” I asked almost wishing I hadn’t asked that question.
“You protected me once. I was in a fight with a group of bullies. Do you remember? It was the first day of first grade. I was being beat up by some second graders when you intervened and fought for me,” Clora said then she let out a sigh. “You got punched in the face really hard. So hard you fell over and nearly started crying. Not before you glared at the bullies. Do you remember it now?” Clora asked me.
“I--,” I muttered as images of the fight flashed back to me. “I do remember. I remember being punched but after that everything blacked out,” I answered.
“You lifted up rocks without touching them and threw them at the bullies. That’s why I was afraid of you,” Clora said then I was silent. “Will you let me in now?” Clora asked.
“No, I’m still angry with you,” I growled in reply.
“Aaron, Marie and Cloud want to see you in the kitchen,” Chobi said as he knocked on my door.
“Why?” I asked Chobi.
“I don’t know but Marie didn’t look very happy with you,” Chobi answered then I released the door letting Clora in. “Just kidding,” Chobi laughed as he sprinted away.
“Chobi you rotten fly!” I yelled as I dashed after him.
“I got you to come out of your room didn’t I?’ Chobi howled as he jumped from the railing of the upstairs causing Clora to yelp out but Chobi landed with a roll and looked up at me.
“What are you? Are you some kind of ninja?” I gasped as I looked down at him.
“What’s the matter? Can’t keep up to an athlete like me?” Chobi sneered with a smirk.
“Oh, I’ll get you Chobi,” I growled as I jumped off the second floor and landed on my feet before stumbling back and landing on my butt. “Ouch,” I grumbled then I stood up and pointed at Chobi. “You just stay still so I can get you,” I hissed then Chobi folded his arms.
“Nope,” he smiled then I dove after him. He jumped out of my way.
“Aaron,” Clora said before I could get up and go after Chobi again. “Aaron we need to forgive each other,” Clora said as she came down the stairs.
“I just don't want to talk to you Clora. I've got nothing to say to you,” I muttered losing my interest in anger towards Chobi.
