“Connor?” I shouted with glee as my only friend arrived at my castle.

“Hi Katie, It’s nice to see you again it’s been a while.” Connor replied with a huge friendly smile plastered on his face. “Do you know what our parents are talking about?”

I giggled a little “Oh don’t act like you don’t know Connor, they are talking about us marring so that the sun and moon kingdom can be joined.” I hugged him tightly. “Ever since my father died your dad has been pressing the situation more and more with each visit.”

Connor averted his gaze and looked in the direction of our parents. “It looks like my dad is going off about them marrying instead of us.” Connor sighed. “He thinks we are too young for them to make that kind of decision for us. After all you are only seven, and I only turned nine two months ago.”

I looked up at Connors face, than hugged him tighter. “Even though I am seven years old, I am very mature for my age. Even my guardian dog Vanilla thinks I am mature for my age. Even your guardian dog Chocolate says so. Is this your doing?” I smiled with pride.

Connor knelt down so that he was my height. “Princess Katie, of the moon kingdom, my fiancé, do not question my actions I am just trying to make sure you are safe.”

“I’m not,” I almost whispered as I avoided his gaze, “that was meant to come out as playful, maybe I used the wrong tone, anyway I know why chocolate has been here so often he told me why. He told me it was because you don’t want me to feel lonely now that my dad is gone.”

“Yes that is true, but what I really want is for you to move with me into the Sun Kingdom.” Connor spoke softly to me, his eyes filled with sadness and hurt, yet he continued. “I know you don’t want to move away from the moon or your mom but please come and join me.” His eyes were pleading and his heart was racing.

“I want to come with you, I really do, but I cannot. I must stay here and finish my training before I can even think about moving to the sun, that’s the deal I made with your dad and I am up holding my end of the deal.” I told Connor the same thing every time he asked, but it never stopped him from asking.

“I know princess, and when I become a galaxy sprite we will be the perfect royal couple.” Connor announced.

“SHHH!” I silenced him. “We don’t need our parents knowing now do we? I mean they would freak out completely. We are only aloud to be childhood friends remember?”

Connor nodded, “Yes, I remember, how could I possibly forget.”

I hugged him tightly I love this boy more than either of us knew. I buried my face in his chest, trying to forget all my worries. I felt myself relaxing in his arms and slowly I fell asleep.
