Warm Desert Kisses 2

Prologue (chapter1)

Sheikh Mufasa marched all the way to the prison. He was angry and humiliated. His pride was wounded. How dare he? He dares to leave my daughter standing at the altar like that. Just because he is the king, it doesn't give him the right humiliate her and my entire family-Sheikh Mufasa angrily thought to himself. He had never been so humiliated in his life. He knew if Amber became queen, he would have so much power. When Basil walked out on the wedding, all that power that was almost at the palm of his hand just slipped away.

When the sheikh arrived at the prison, they let him easily. He was a well respected man. He made sure none of the prison guards would let anyone know of his visit to the prison. The walked walked into the prison. He stood in front of one of the cells with his hands in a his pocket.

Guadalupe, we need to talk” the sheikh said. His voice so low and dangerous.

Guadalupe lifted his head up slowly and saw the sheikh standing there. This was definitely something he did not expect to see.

BASIL EL-SAMI ZAHID!” Daliyah screamed at the top of her lungs as Basil entered his private chambers on his return from chasing Alex. His eyes widened at the sound of his mothers voice. It was unlike her to raise her voice. She must be really mad.

Mother” he said and leaned in to kiss her on the cheek. Daliyah moved away from him. She put her hand up signalling for him to stop.

Do not kiss me right now. You have a lot of explaining to do” she said. Her face was turning red with anger.

Fiddah was casually sitting on the cream and golden chair watching the drama unfold. She was sipping on her red wine. She knew Daliyah was not pleased that Basil had left his own wedding. Fiddah did not offer her an explanation. She left that part to Basil. She gave him a mischievous smile when he entered the room and winked at him.

About what?” Basil lazily asked.

Boy, don't play with me” Daliyah said with her no-nonsense face. Basil shrugged his shoulders. He knew exactly what she was talking about.

I am not obliged to marry her. It just took a while to realise that”

Are you serious right now? You left her at the altar. You couldn't do that before the wedding. And for what Basil?”

Daliyah's mouth dropped open. Alex? That girl. Sure she was nice girl but not nice enough to be my daughter-in-law, the future queen. This can not be happening. It's too hot in here. I can't see straight. I..

Daliyah fell to the floor. Basil got on his knees and picked her up in his hands. Fiddah was up to her feet quickly and went over to Daliyah to see if she was okay. The shock got the best of her.

Alex starred at her laptop. She applied for universities in El-Qua. She wanted to transfer universities. She could not just quit altogether. She knew it was reckless and such a big risk to pack up and move to El-Qua because of a man. Her man! She loved Basil so much even though it had been a short time and they met in a non romantic way. It was not your typical boy meets girl situation. It had been three weeks since she saw him. She missed his beautiful lips. She also missed fighting with him, as odd as that sounded. It still shocked her that he walked out on his wedding to come find her. She smilled at the pouch in her hands that he gave her.

She enjoyed the soft rays of the sun caressing her skin. She was sitting by her window with her laptop. It was always hot in Miami. She wondered how she was going to break the news to her parents. Hey I'm moving to El-Qua because I am in love with the king – She could not exactly say that. She would tell them there is a great university there. That she wants the best for her degree. This way they won't like it but at least they will understand. Anything for a great education.

Lex!” Alex's mum called, disturbing her thoughts. Alex frowned, her mum was the only one who ever called her that. She dragged herself downstairs. She joined here dad at the table. He rubbed her head as if she was a puppy.

Wash your hands Lex” her mum shouted from the kitchen.

Alex rolled her eyes as she got up and dragged herself to the kitchen. How did she know I didn't wash my hands? Could have done it upstairs in the bathroom.

Alex got in the kitchen and washed her hands. “Dry your hands” her mum said carrying the salad bowl to the dinning room.

Damnit, I was gona do that too” Alex angrily said quietly. Her mum had a habit of telling her what to do even though Alex was going to do it anyway. She dried her hands and stomped to the dinning room. She sat down. Alex's mum said the grace.

They began to eat. Her parents were talking about their days at work, yari yari yara- all that crap. For a while Alex just let them talk while she wondered how to tell them. She thought she might as well blurt it out. There was never going to be a good moment.

I want to move to El-Qua” Alex blurted out.

Both her parents looked at her like she said I've enlisted with the army. She tightened her grip onto her fork as if she was ready to use it as a weapon.

You what now?” Her mum asked.

Oh God, that look. I might as well get up and run. It's about to get ugly.

Why?” her dad asked.

I loved it over there when I went. Also they have a great university for engineering. I would like to continue my degree there” Alex said.

Did you meet a boy?” her mum asked raising her eyebrow.

Mum please, I would never pack up my whole life and move for some plain boy” Alex cried out.

Liar liar liar!!! her conscience screamed at her. Alex shoved a piece of chicken in her mouth ignoring her conscience.

Her mum narrowed her eyes. Obviously she didn't believe her. She finally relaxed her gaze and continued eating. She knew Alex would never do anything unless she was completely sure. She was very strong willed. Besides she had never brought a guy home- not that she would let her. But she never showed signs of being in a serious relationship. Maybe if she really did meet a guy, then it was worth it.

"Tell us about the university” her dad cautiously said. He knew not to say the wrong thing to set her mum off or to pick sides.

Alex started talking about the university and what the extra things they had that her current university did not. She tried her best to sell it to her parents. She even exaggerated a few things. Her mum starred at her with a raised eyebrow. That woman had a nose of a bloodhound. She could sniff anything out from a mile, even a little lie.

After what seemed like an eternity of arguments and lectures, her parents finally agreed. Well her dad was okay with it from the beginning. It was the mum who needed convincing.

Lex you better behave yourself over there” her mum said

Yes ma'am” Alex only referred to her as ma'am when she wanted something or forgiveness.

I know you”

Yeees ma'am” Alex dragged the yes. She was behaved enough. If Basil was here, he would agree with her mum. He would say she needed to be disciplined. Alex frowned at the thought.

Call frequently. Come home every two months at least”

Okay” Alex nodded.

Study hard”

Oh gosh, how long will she go for? I know all this.

Sara! I MEAN IT!!!” her mum suddenly voiced out when she realised Alex had drifted off into her thoughts.

Oh gosh, she's using the middle name. She means business.

Yes ma'am. I will not worry you” Alex answered sounding all military.

Her mum broke into tears. Oh God!! Alex looked at her dad. He too looked confused. They both reluctantly leaned in and hugged her mum. It was rare to see her cry. Alex was surprised that her news hit her this hard.

My baby” she said between sobs.
