Summary

When the world went to shit five years ago, everyone was desperate to find a safe place to live in. There were many cities all over the world that provided the untainted souls a place to feel safe and secured, but Haven City was (and still is) the largest and well guarded of them all. The city is filled with light magic from the many elves and Angels that helped build the city. It should be safe, right?
"Welcome to Haven City. Vampires, Wolves, Elves, Humans, Hybrids; they all reside here. These beings come here to feel welcomed and sheltered from the corrupted outsiders that began to turn against one another. Evil has risen and taken many innocent lives."
We've heard this broadcast throughout the whole world, and many people have paid decent money to be transported safely to Haven City. Most can agree that Haven City is by far, the most safest place on Earth.
So what happens when the magical border is breached by the evil that sent the world spiraling down?
Neighborhoods are destroyed, the trees and plants shrivel into slumped, brown twigs, and the citizens are turned into blood-thirsty creatures with no conscience. Even the purest of hearts could be tainted with just a single touch.
Though Haven City has protected its inhabitants for many long years, even before this evil was known, with its great magic walls that stands between the safe lands and the harmful evil of the outside world, a new battle shall erupt. Who will be among the ones to be tainted by this leeching evil, and who's willing to give all they have to save their haven?

Jade Clington was a true journalist at heart. She loved to write. She loved to be updated. She loved her job. But what she didn't like was the fact that she was restricted from the latest happening; The leaking into BreathWood, one of the districts that outlined a section of the border.
When people Hear of Haven City, their eyes light up. It stretches out as long as two states, with large surrounding walls as borders that emanate rays of pure magic around the city and above. The city is divided up into many different districts that range from different sizes, with the Capitol in the middle as its heart. The way the districts are set, the less fortunate are closer to the border, while the wealthy are circling the Capitol or living within it. The structures were, of course, very organized and many believed it to be safe to say that they can live in Haven city and ignore the reality of the world.
It was safe to say that Haven City would become the great light that stands against darkness.
Until now.
Jade couldn't stop staring at the entrance to BreathWood. The pathway that was once filled with lush green grass and beautiful wild flowers was now filled with dead plants and a death mist. It was just a week ago when she traveled to BreathWood to visit her parents. Thankfully, most of the citizens escaped before being touched by the horrible hands of darkness, but the others...
The great guards from the Capitol stood elbow to elbow, blocking the pathway that would lead into the now tainted district. Jade took out her recorder and stepped out of the growing crowd and in front of the guardians. Next to them, she looked like a life-sized doll. They made her feel nervous, ever since she went beyond the City's walls without permission.
Jade cleared her throat and tried to square her shoulders. Her wide green eyes were fierce, but her full lips hesitated. "Um..." was her first word.
"Miss Clington, I may ask you nicely to step back." Said one of the guards, his eyes staring straight ahead.
She had to do this article. She cleared her throat once more and finally spoke. "Hello, my name is Jade Clington and I am the journalist to cover this story."
"I know who you are, Miss Clington." Said the same guard.
Ignoring his statement, Jade snaps her recorder on and held it between her and the guards. "May I ask for your name?" She kept her tone professional, even though she was as nervous as she ever was.
"You've visited my office a bit too often to not know my name, Miss Clington. But if you insist. My name is Damon Haven, head guard of the Haven City Guardian Control.."
Jade rolled her eyes as she heard a few of the audience in the crowd snicker but kept recording. "Mr. Haven, will you mind telling us what in the world has happened to BreathWood?" She looked up at Damon. She always hated how he looked like a sculpture. His broad shoulders, built biceps, stone face, and black hair...It annoyed her, on top of him being a guardian, that is. She always saw the guards to be selfish bullies. Like dirty cops.
Damon's voice grew and he somehow gotten taller and the crowd behind me hushed. "The wall where BreathWood bordered has somehow weakened in its magic, causing a bit of Darkness to flood through the cracks. I am restricted from saying more, but what I can tell you all is that we have found and fixed the crack in both the magic and wall. We are searching for solutions in draining this death mist and keeping it from spreading any further. To ensure safety of our citizens, we are evacuating areas that may become affected by BreathWood's leak."
Jade raised the recorder to her lips and asked, "How many people were injured? Killed?"
Jade held the recorder back to Damon. "There were 19 people injured in this leakage. So far, there were 7 bodies found."
Jade took the recorder back to her mouth. "Can you identify the Decea--"
"That is classified information." Damon cut Jade off in mid-sentence.
Jade squinted at the guard for a while before ending her recording. "Why can't you identify the deceased?"
Damon stared at her and shook his head slightly. "This is not any of your business, Jade.
This caught her off guard. He has never stated her by her first name. What was it that he was hiding from her?
"It is my business, as well as the people of Haven City, Damon." She wanted to get down to the bottom of it. She lived here longer than he has, so why does he get to keep secrets about the City from her?
"Leave it be Jade. Just Leave it be." before she could bug him more about the situation, Damon stepped from his post to address the crowd. "You all are to go home now. Any homes, stores, or buildings withing 3 blocks are to be evacuated. Those people are to report to the capitol for their living arrangements until this problem is dealt with."
The citizens dared not to speak against his words. They slowly walk to their homes and shops, clearing the place. Damon looked towards Jade and nodded to her. "Come around to my office later tonight. I need to have a word with you."
A knot formed in her stomach at the sound of his strict voice. She nodded slightly and stuffed her recorder into the pocket of her black coat and walked away.
What would he want with Jade?
