My breath caught in my throat. My body became numb and I heard the distinct noise of glass shattering. It took me a few moments to realise it was Marie's phone, and that I had dropped it.

\"Hey! Your definitely paying for that!\" Marie shrieked.

\"Marie! Shut up.\" Alec ordered. He walked up beside me. \"Fyre? What's going on?\"

My knees gave out and I felt myself crumbling. Fortunately, Alec grabbed me before I hit the ground and placed me gently in the ground.

\"He's back.\" I whispered. My body began shaking. The one person I hated and feared more than anyone in the world, was back. He was supposed to be dead. \"My fathers alive.\" I finally looked up and met Alec's eyes.

He wrapped me up in a hug. It was... strange. I hated that I was being weak, but at the same time I was so glad that I wouldn't be alone anymore.

\"He's in jail right?\" I nodded. \"Then he can't hurt you. Let's go have breakfast.\" And in one fluid movement he pulled us both up.

\"These are the best pancakes ever.\" I said with my mouth full.

\"I know.\" Alec bragged.

\"Well, your modest.\"

\"Never claimed to be.\"

\"So what exactly did your dad do?\" Marie asked.

\"He ruined my life.\" I responded, not meeting her eyes.

\"Finish your pancakes. Then we'll go train again. Alone.\" Alec said, looking pointedly at Marie. I only nodded and shoved more pancake in my mouth.

Alec's POV

I really did want to train. At first. When we got back to the training room I began to teach Fyre how to project her thoughts. Not that she didn't already. Every night I got a front row seat to all her nightmares. I shuddered.

\"Now, imagine your talking to me, just don't talk out loud.\"

\"Oh, simple.\" She said sarcastically, under her breath.

\"Trust me, for you it will be. Your one of the strongest I've seen.\" She blushed. Then her expression turned to concentration.

\"Hey, you.\" I responded. Her face brightened. \"Ok, now I'll show you how to transport memories. Think of a memory, one you know well. Then replay it in your mind, like a movie.\"

I received a memory of her and her parents at a park with their dog. Liz?\"

\"Nice dog.\"

\"I did it?\" She shrieked. For a moment, her eyes cleared and worry was replaced with excitement. But only for a moment.

\"Good job.\" I smiled. \"That's all for now. \"

\"Really?\" she asked. \"I was just getting into it.\"

\" I know.\" I said, smiling. \"Head back?\" She nodded.

I glanced down at her in the hallway. She was literally radiating fear. Which was amazing because projecting feelings to others is one of the hardest things for mind readers to do, and yet she was doing it subconsciously. This girl was good.

\"What did your dad do to scare you so bad?\" I blurted. Well that was a bit insensitive.

Fyre sighed.

\"I-I can't. I can't even tell you.\" Anyone could see the pain in her eyes at that moment. Even an insensitive bastard.

\"It's ok you know?\" I reassured. \"Marie will protect you.\"

That was obviously not what she was expecting, as she doubled over laughing. I couldnt help but marvel at the sound. Had I heard her laugh before? I couldn't remember.

Sorry for the sucky ending, but I really couldn't end on a cliffhanger again. I feel like i've done that to much lately. And this ^^ is all I could come up with today. Anywho, that's all I've got to say for now:) fan, like, comment, whatever. Danke!!
