Feeling she can no longer run, Jessie sees a door that seemingly leads to a tunnel dug into a wall of rock and dirt near a mountain. She sprints inside praying her pursuers have lost her trail. At the front of the tunnel there is an old beaten up door barely hanging from its hinges. The door creaks as she steps inside. She can hear the wind and the snow pounding against the exterior of the mountain. Once fully inside she can not see much, there is a medium length tunnel leading to a concrete wall. Jessie moves closer to the wall and puts her hand on it. The wall is smooth, or at least more smooth than the rock surrounding her, obviously man made. She attempts to light a match but it breaks and falls to the ground before it can ignite.

As she pulls out another match she can hear shouting outside. Panicked, Jessie quickly lights the match and searches for something that could possibly open the apparent door in front of her. She finds a small panel with a lever on it attached to the wall. She pulls the lever as she hears someone kick in the door behind her. The wall slides down while sparks fly into the air from rock rubbing against rock. Jessie runs in and pulls another lever on the inside of the shelter. When the wall is about halfway closed she hears three gun shots. Two are accompanied by sounds of bullets ricocheting off a hard surface. The last shot hits her in the shoulder, only nicking her. Jessie drops down as the door closes fully. She looks back and exhales with relief. As she stands up she sees a large lever on the wall pointing down. She flips it up and lights turn on with a loud sound of generators powering up.

When the lights turn on she realizes she is in a medium sized room. Inside the room are two refrigerators, a small cot, a T.V., and radio. On the floor is a dusty rug with red and yellow patterns. On the rug were four pictures of what seemed to be a middle aged women, a young boy, a teenage girl and teenage boy. Lying near the pictures was a skeleton with a small hole through the temple of the skull. The rug had an old blood stain that had spread from the skull of the deceased person who lay before Jessie. She moved forward slowly. As she did, she spotted a book near the skeleton. She kept her eyes on the dead body as if not to disturb it from its eternal slumber as she picked up the book. The book seemed to actually be a journal as it was leather and smaller than a normal book. Jessie opened the journal, on the inside cover “The Documentation of a Dead World” was written in blue ink. The pages were yellow with age and the edges of the paper were stained with blood spatter. She reads the first page.
