After sewing Kayla’s clothes up, Jessie and Kayla made their way to Landon’s place. When they entered the front doors, Landon was not in sight. A loud noise came from the office in the back. One curse word was followed by another as more loud sounds were made. Finally, Landon fell through the office door and looked up. “Oh hey Jessie!” He tried to say nonchalantly. He looked at Jessie then at Kayla, then back at Jessie then at Kayla again. “Uh Jessie, there is a strange person in my home.” Landon said with confusion. “The only strange person here is you asshole.” Jessie said while squinting at Landon. “Ouch.” “I’m only kidding.” “No it’s not that, I’m currently lying on a thumb tack.” Landon said as he stood up. Kayla laughed a little into her hand. “I’m Kayla.” She said as she reached out her hand. “Hey I’m Landon.” He said as he shook her hand. “So much for first impressions.” said Landon.

“Well, you two hungry? I’m cooking some Yao Guai right now.” “Yao Guai?” Said Jessie “You mean like the Yao Guai that you refused to let me kill?” “Yep, exactly that one.” Said Landon as he walked into the office again. “Son of a bitch.” Jessie said with a smirk. The three sat down and ate. They talked about how they came about meeting each other. “Wow, that’s awful, at least those fuckers got what they deserved thanks to Jessie.” Said Landon after hearing Kayla’s story about that morning. Jessie stopped eating, bowed and smiled. “Ha yeah she’s kinda my savior.” Said Kayla and she glanced at Jessie. “Psh, that’s bullshit.” Said Jessie. “Well as a matter of fact I’m Jessie’s savior.” Said Landon with sarcastic confidence. “Okay now that’s definitely bullshit.” Said Jessie, putting her empty bowl down. “What do you mean? I totally saved you from that, sorry, THIS Yao Guai.” “I was thisclose to killing it before you stopped me!” Jessie said as she held her index finger and her thumb close together. As the two bickered, Kayla just sat and watched, slightly amused.

As Kayla began to say something to intervene, a small bell began to make a dinging noise. Landon immediately shushed Jessie and stared at the bell that hung on the wall. It rang two more times. Landon jumped up and turned off the lights in the front office. As he locked the doors Jessie walked up to him. “What the hell is going on Landon?” She said while whispering. “Shh! I set up tripwires around the building that ring a bell when stepped on. Something or someone just stepped on one in the front parking lot.” Landon said while looking out the front doors. “Can you seem them?” “It’s too dark. We need to just stay in here and stay alert until they show up or leave.” “Alright. I’ll cover the back, you stay here.” Said Jessie.

Jessie informed Kayla of the situation and gave her a knife just in case. Jessie drew her M1911A1 pistol that she had taken from the men who assaulted Kayla and checked her ammunition. She had six out of seven rounds left in her magazine as well as another magazine with five rounds. Jessie opened a fire exit leading to the ladder on the outside of the building. She leaned against the wall on the edge of the rooftop and stared down at the area behind the clinic. About three hours went by and Jessie began to fall asleep. Although she fought it, she eventually nodded off.

“Hey!” Said Landon at a slightly loud volume. Jessie sprang up and put her gun against Landon’s head. “Woah, calm down. It’s just good old Landon.” “Hh christ, I almost blew your head off.” Said Jessie, breathing heavily. “I think they left, or it was just a bird or something.” “Alright, how is Kayla?” “She fell asleep.” “Yeah it’s pretty late, I guess we can just crash here-” as jessie stood up a gunshot rang out. The bullet hit Landon directly in his upper arm. As the bullet hit him, he fell back on to the ground, a result from the force of the impact. Jessie got down and grabbed Landon’s leg. She pulled him to the ledge she was using as cover. Jessie pulled out a bandana that was stained with blood from past injuries. She tightly wrapped it around Landon’s arm, using it as a tourniquet.

Landon yelled slightly in pain. “Shut up.” Jessie said in a low tone. She pulled out her pistol and peeked above the ledge for a moment. Another shot fires off and hit the wall near her. She saw the flash of the gunshot. Far left side of the parking lot, behind an old van. Jessie moved to the ladder. “Stay here.” She said to Landon as she slid down the ladder quickly. The side of the building she was on was right next to a small building, taking her out of the shooter’s sight. She ran around the back side of the building. As she cautiously leaned around the corner, she saw a man with a rifle, smoking a cigarette. Jessie picked up a large rock and slammed it on the ground near her. She stood in the open, waiting for the man to see her. “Hey!” The man shouted as he ran towards her, throwing his cigarette on the ground.

Jessie bolted around to the other corner and waited for him. The man approached, rifle held up as he searched for Jessie. As she could see his gun come around the corner, she grabbed the barrel of the gun and pulled it down, while doing so, she moved behind him and pulled the rifle back towards him, strangling him with it. The fought and gasped for breath until Jessie snapped his neck with a fast motion. She took his rifle and the ammunition in his pocket. The rifle was an M14A1 with two extra magazines and a medium range scope on it.
