We huddled together under a huge pinetree, my shirt sticking to me as the rain poured down. Stephen wrapped his arms around me. "Ariel, this is all your fault." He laughed, trying to lighten the mood. I nodded, my teeth chattering. I knew it was, but this was better than being beaten by the woman who bore me.
"I-I-I'm so c-cold." I chattered.
"Me too." He shivered once or twice before we snuggled closer and warmed up. His arms tightened around me and soon my brain shut off and I fell asleep.
"Ariel. Ariel, wake up." I murmured something that even I couldn't hear. I rolled over and smelled the dark scent of the pillows. Woodsy, with a hint of temptation. I jumped up suddenly and scuttled over the bed, falling off of the foot of the bed. I landed with a thump on my tailbone.
"STEPHEN!" I cried, crab walking backwards up a wall. "Stephen, where are you?" I looked around the room. I realized I was alone, and began to cry. I got up and walked slowly out of the dark room. The livingroom was simple colors; the couch a dark blue fabric, pointed at a TV that was off, the walls white. The kitchen was all crome and black and my brother was standing in front of the fridge. "Stephen." I hissed. He jumped.
"Ariel, you're awake. Good."
"Where are we?" Stephen bit his lip and looked to the dark hallway.
"Well...when were under the pinetree, we both passed out. I stayed out until I heard a noise coming from behind us. I took out my knife and opened it. I sat very still after that, waiting until whatever it was came to the front of us. The noise kept going until finally someone stood in front of us. I stayed frozen, wondering if they could see us.
"'Who are you?' they asked. I said we were run aways trying to keep dry. He, the person, stood there, seeming to think about something. 'Why don't you come stay at my house?' he offered. I didn't know what else to do. Even in your sleep you were shivering, so I agreed and here ya have it. We're here."
I looked at him, confused as I could be. The bathroom door opened and steam filled out. A dark, lean figure stepped out, a white towel wrapped around him. He rubbed his black hair with another white towel, his muscles in his arms and chest tightening as he moved. He padded across the floor bare foot and stuck out his free hand.
In an Irish accent, he said, "Hello, I'm Sebastion Clear. Please to meetyou, Ariel."
