Stephen walked into his room and flipped on the light. "Jesus, Ariel, what the hell?"

" my God!" I flung my arms around Stephen, tears straining in my eyes. Stephen pulled me back and stared at me. I sucked down my tears and looked back at him.

"Did Sebastian try something with you?"

I looked at him, puzzled, until I realized how I must look. "No! No! I mean, we kissed, but no! Nothing like that!"

"Ariel, he's twenty-three, what is your deal?" I looked at him, stunned. Was he being protective of me? Against Sebastian?! Of all the people- "There's something not quiet right with him. I can't put my finger on it, but he seems strange to me. I don't want you in the same room with him alone, okay? It's a bad idea." I nodded at him.

"How was your shift?" I asked, walking out of the room behind him. "What's for dinner?"

Stephen shucked his socks into the dirty hamper and went the fridge. He took out the steak, a pan, and some seasonings. I watched him cook and listened as he spoke, "My shift was the same as always. I wish I got tips, but I don't. It sucks being a busy boy but hopefully I can work my way to waiter and get more money. As for dinner, watch closely because I'm going to teach you how to cook. All you know how to do is clean, and that's not right. Everybody should have the basic things down; mostly women."

"That's extremely sexist." I grumbled, peaking over his shoulder. For the next ten or so minutes I watched him cook up the steak, potatoes corn. He made me mash the potatoes up andit made me tired. "Stephen, I don't feel well. Can we do this tomorrow?"

He looked up at me and got this pained look on his face. "You're super white, Ariel. What did you do today?" Before I could answer, I dropped the fork into the bowl and stumbled back. Sebastian caught me under the arms, and held me up. My head rolled to the side.

"She lost a lot of blood today. She slipped while she was mopping the floor." Dots clouded my vision, but I tried to push up from Sebastian. I stumbled forward and slammed into Stephen. "More than I thought she did." I looked up at the dotted Stephen.

He kept his eyes on me, his arms tight, "Did you eat today?" I tried to think back, but was too light headed to go much further than stumbling into my brother. "I'll take that as a 'no'. She's anemic, you know?"

"Am not." I tried to say, but the word slurred together and my eyes fluttered. Stephen picked me up and I slumped against him, to weak to hold my own head up. He carried me to his room and left. "Steee-" was all that came out as I tried to call him back. Suddenly he was sitting on the bed beside me, coaxing water down my throat, then little pieces of bread.

"That'll help with the dizziness." He said, sticking some more pieces on my tongue. "When you can actually function, you'll get some more food. I'm making an appointment for you to get iron pills."

I said the only thing I could muster at this point, "Not." Meaning not anemic.

"Yea, you are. Shut up and drink some more water."

Sebastian stood in the doorway, watching us closely.
