#1- Night in the City
The school bell rang. Another school day is done. It’s only four o’clock. I know it’s too, early to go home. I don’t feel like going home this time. Besides, Mr. Clears, my professor left me a lot of task to finish decorating the stage for the stage play that will be tomorrow afternoon. I’m the president of the theatre club. Yes, I know. It’s part of my responsibility as the president. I have to admit that I’m kinda depressed, but according to theatre, life is a real theatre. Although you’re tired, life must go on. Yes, yes, life must go on.
The practice lasted for 3 hours, and decorating the stage takes a bit long. While decorating, me and my only friend in the club, Lyka are talking about boys. I can say that Lyka is a fine lady. Flirting is not her habit, even though she got the looks and posture.
“Whoop. Finally, we’re almost done. We have to leave immediately. It’s getting dark.” Lyka told me. Worried.
We still have our exams tomorrow morning, and in the afternoon, we are going to present a stage play. Lyka was chosen as the main character of the play. I’m the director. Everyone is following my instruction. Although I know that some of them hate me, because of my appearance. They say that I’m a very weird person, having a pale skin color and a pair of dark eyes. My brown hair isn’t that long to make me appear like a white lady. Still, I don’t get it why people are afraid of me. But I think I’ve already got the answer- my past.
It’s already 8 o’clock in the evening. The streets become darker compared to later. It’s a windy evening. Lyka and I rode on a bus hurriedly as she keeps on checking the time. We still have lots of things to do.
The traffic is really annoying. We’re stuck for almost an hour. Since we’re quite near the apartment, Lyka decided to get down from the bus. “Mhykee, let’s go. We have no choice but to walk.” Lyka is a practical person. She will do something unless if it’s needed badly, like what’s happening to us right now.
We walked through the dark street. I really fear darkness since then. It feels like I’m haunted by memories whenever I see no light. Both of us continued walking even though we’re both tired.
“Hey, Mike, we’re almost there.” I said while breathing heavily. Just by the moment, we noticed a strange shadow coming nearer where we stand.
