School ended seven hours later and I now left the last source of school, the bus. I went to approach the front door when I realized a man with light brown hair was standing in front of the door. I stood for a long moment just staring at him until he turned around with a defeated expression. “How long have you been there?” the man asked me but I continued to stare at him. “Are you deaf?”
I can’t speak.
“Um,” he muttered then the front door opened.
“Yasen?” Father muttered from the door then I rushed passed Yasen and inside.
“Who was that?” Yasen asked as he pointed after me.
“That’s our son, Noah,” Father answered.
“Alex, I didn’t know you had a son,” Yasen muttered with concern.
“What do you want with us?” Father asked.
“I’ve been doing a lot of research lately,” Yasen began.
“No, Dr. Zahari, Divna and I don’t want anything to do with you,” Father hissed as he slammed the door in his face.
Father turned around to see me still standing at the foot of the stairs. “Do you need something Noah?” He asked me then I quickly went upstairs.
I sat down in my bed then looked around my seemingly empty room then I lifted up the sketchbook lying next to my pillow. I flipped open my sketchbook and on the first page was a sketch of a group of six people. My mom and dad being two of the six people plus the man I had just seen. I stared at the man in the middle who appeared in my dreams more often than most. He was the one who looked most like me.
My door pushed open suddenly causing me to shut my sketchbook and look up. “What were you drawing Noah?” My mom asked.
“Dad says you were acting weird when you saw that man at our door,” Mom said as she sat down next to me.
Yasen hurt all of us. I said then my mom sighed.
“He hadn’t intended to,” Mom said then she gave me a terrified expression. “How did you know his name?” Mom gasped then I glanced away from her.
I had a dream about him.
“What happens in your dreams?” Mom asked me then I lifted up my sketchbook and handed it to her.
I dream about these people.
My mom opened up my sketchbook then grew pale as she looked at the drawing. She turned the page to see a drawing of a beast then she stood to her feet. “Alex,” she shouted then Alex came into the room as Mom showed him the sketch.
“Where did you see this at?” Dad asked with anger.
I don’t want to talk anymore. I said with growing fear of both of them.
“Was it in your dream too?” Mom asked me but I wouldn’t look at her. “Noah,” she said as she pulled me up to my feet. “Answer the question,” Mom yelled. I gritted my teeth and continued to refuse to speak.
“That’s it; I’m taking him back to the councilor to try and figure out this mess,” Alex yelled as he tore me from Mom’s arms and dragged me to the car. I tried to fight him off of me but he wasn’t going to let me go.
