Sagarha Valley – 2 hours later

Their lips danced in the candlelight, moaning and panting, their bodies touched heedlessly. Ignoring the routine lack of interest and the comfortable numbness they had cultivated, they followed through their informal lovemaking for hours.

Restless and mediocrely satisfied, they lied next to each other on the cotton sheets, both in empty silence. Klara, a woman with golden, luscious hair and green eyes like emeralds, lit up a cigarette from the flame of a candle.

“I told you I can’t stand that awful smell.” – Zau said.

“I can’t stand when we’re having sex and your mind is elsewhere.” – Klara responded, exhaling the smoke from her cigarette.

He took a deep breath and sighed. With both his arms behind is head, he lied on the bed and stared blankly at the wooden ceilings.

“I know where Lenn’s troops are. We’d deviate a few hours west, but we can surprise them and kill them off once and for all.”

“Attacking from behind like a coward, huh?” – She said, coughing from the smoke.

“You’re going to ruin yourself if you don’t quit that. Besides, it makes your breath smell bad.” – Zau responded, ignoring her comment.

“You aren’t taking us off-path just so you can stab Lenn in the back as if you were afraid of him. Be a man and fight him face-to-face. Set a date and time and settle your differences. This whole deal is eating you up inside, and I hate it.” – Klara said, putting off the cigarette and tossing it on the floor.

“You don’t understand.”

“It seems that you don’t ever understand it yourself, Zau. Forget about it for now, though. The time will come eventually, but not now. Right now I just want to sleep.”

She turned on her side, facing away from him.

“Lenn, you ruined my ability to trust. You ruined my ability to love. Klara looks so much like Idara, except that Klara is not a brunette. Idara was sweet and loving, and this woman is a bitch. But you ruined her, Lenn. You turned Idara into a lying whore who slept with her lover and then his brother. Lenn, I did so much for you. I fought for you, and I even lied for you. I protected your secret, and even though you slept with my woman, not once have I told your secret. I did nothing to deserve being stabbed in the back. Lenn, you made me bitter. You made me vengeful. You changed me, and you ruined me. I have no purpose in this life but to avenge what remains of my honor. I won’t rest until I see you bleeding out at my feet. Then, I can finally die and rid myself of this miserable life I’ve been living.”

5:56 a.m.

“Lenn! It’s six in the morning, Lenn, come on!” – Claude yelled from the other side of the door, knocking as often and as loudly as he could.

“Let me guess, someone’s on her period, uh?” – Arovk laughed quietly, as Claude pushed him with his elbow.

“Yo, Kran, what was that girl doing in the storage room?! Ah! It doesn’t matter. Make him open this damn door, won’t ‘cha? I’m going to go get the troops ready to go.” – Claude said, notably stressed and angry.

“Aye, aye, captain!”

Claude glared at him, but left quickly. Arovk stood in front of the door for a few seconds before knocking.

“Commander Ryeq, your boy Claude is all over the place, you’re going to give him a heart attack if you don’t come out!” – Arovk yelled and waited for an answer, but got no response.

“If you don’t come out, we’re leaving without you. I bet we can lead these men, just Garnet and I. We don’t need your flamboyant ass around.”

The door opened aggressively. Lenn’s arm quickly grabbed Arovk by his shirt and pushed him against the wall.

“You just felt like pissing me off today, didn’t you, Kran?!” – Lenn smashed him against the wall aggressively. Arovk Kran tried in vain to set himself free.

“You’re too fucking weak, Kran, why are you even struggling?” – Lenn said, running a hand down and around Arovk’s thigh –“I should teach you some respect.”

“Cut it out, Ryeq.” – Arovk murmured, trying hopelessly to get away.

“Oh, but you don’t want me to, do you?” – Lenn spoke softly and coldly, reaching Arovk’s ear and breathing into his neck – “I can make you hard just by whispering in your ear.”

“Commander Ryeq, stop harassing your subordinate general.” – Claude Garnet said as he entered the room – “the troops are all ready to go.”

“Well, you just had to ruin the fun, didn’t you?” – Lenn said sarcastically, letting go off Arovk, who was left in notable distress.

Lenn proceeded to pick up the luggage from the floor, throwing two of the bags at Claude for him to carry.

“Let’s get the fuck out of here, boys.”
