Our mission was simple. All we had to do was kill a few blood thirsty demons. Erik and I where scouting the local woods where the beasts had been seen. I separated from Erik looking around a highly dense area. It was pitch black and you could hardly see anything, the only light you had was provided from the moon. I walked slowly trying not to make much noise when I heard a weird growling sound from behind me. I slowly turned my head and saw a dark figure. It sort of resembled a bear. Its fangs where huge. And it’s eyes were a bloody red. Red eyes appeared in the shadows all around me. I was surrounded. A high pitched screach escaped its lips and it charged at me with its fangs bared ready to take my life. I pulled out my pistol aiming at its head. I was about to fire when the beast once again screamed, but this time not from outrage but from pain. Blood gushed from an area around its chest and it fell over. Behind it stood Erik with a long slender sword covered in the blue blood of the beast. Erik himself had a cocky smirk in place on his porcelain face. The Demons comrades took no time to lunge at use. I fired my gun killing one instantly. I turned to kill another but it had already started to fall from one of Erik’s blows.  I had not noticed but I had left myself open for one of the demons to attack. It was too late, by the time I had turned my head its paw was already a foot away. I closed my eyes awaiting the blow, but it never came. I opened my eyes to see Erik’s back.
“Get back and watch because I can’t protect a weak a girl like you right now.” H said giving me a fierce look. I stepped back into the shadows and watched him have his way. He was obviously having a hard time on his own, but I didn’t care. If he didn’t want my help I wouldn’t give it to him. I left. I left him there on his own. I didn’t care if he got hurt. What could I do after all I’m just a week little girl. I walked out of the woods jumped in my car and left. I hadn’t known where I was going but I ended up at the bar. I walked in and took a seat. Ordering a strawberry margarita I waited there thinking of what had happened earlier. I didn’t think Erik was like that, looks like I was wrong.
I had been sitting there for about 15 minutes and had gone through many different drinks. I was almost considered drunk. I looked out of the corner of my eye to see a man walking up to me. You could tell he was drunk because of how unbalanced he was.
“Hey baby, I was watching and you look a little lonely sitting here all by yourself.” He said taking the seat next to me.
“Get lost.” I said in a flat voice not really in the mood to deal with a drunk.
“Awww come on don’t be so boring, don’t you want to have a little fun.” His words where slurred and he hiccupped a few times.
“I said to get lost you stupid drunk” I turned away and picked up my fourth drink that night taking a sip. I felt a sharp tip touch the small of my back.
“Now now baby doll, you’re not going to make this harder then it has to be are you”
“What is it you want.” I said jaming the tip of my gun in is gut. It was dark so all people would see is his hand on my back and my own on his stomach.
“If you shoot baby doll it will cause a scene” He was right. If I were to shoot in this place I would be in jail within a few minutes. But I wasn’t going to let him know this. I was going to make him think that I would not hesitate to shot. I looked up into his dark brown eyes with a hard stare. For a second his eyes flashed red. That concluded what I had feared. He was an immortal. A vampire.
“Come with me baby doll, such a cute little thing like you shouldn’t be caring around such a dangerous toy like that.” He walked me out of the back door of or the bar. Not waiting a single second I removed myself from his grip and took a few steps back. “What’s the matter you’re not scared of me are you Hunter?” He said a look of sick twisted amusement crossed his face.
I held up my silver pistol so that it was aligned with his head. My vision blurred a little but I didn’t let it worry me. I would be done with this demon before the alcohol could get to me. I was about to fire when he escaped my line of vision. I looked around the alley hoping to catch sight of him but to no avail. A wicked laugh echoed throughout the alley.
“Having some trouble baby doll” I saw a flash of a figure and was punched in the gut. I was sent back a few feet and hunched over in pain.
“Why you.” I said through gritted teeth. Taking out vampires where tricky, you never knew when they would strike. I closed my eyes hoping I could sense his presence. He’ll come from Behind in three, two, one! I turned and went to grab. My hand griped around his wrist and I chucked him over my shoulder. I heard a grunt and I opened my eyes to see him lying on the ground. My vision went out again and I was starting to get dizzy. The man started to laugh uncontrollably.
“You think because you were able to land one move that you won.” Within a blink of an eye I was shoved into the alley wall and I let out a small whimper of pain. “Well your terribly mistaken.” He whispered in my ear. It was over. I could no longer walk the alcohol had finally hit me. There was nothing I could do. I was in a bone braking death grip. I awaited his final strike staring straight at him. I wasn’t going to die with my eyes closed. That is just a form of weakness. He moved his hand back read to bash my skull in when out of nowhere a dagger came splitting through the air and sliced right through his arm. The man screamed out from pain and jumped back a couple of feet. After I was released I doubled over in pain and coughed uncontrollably.
“If you touch her again you’ll lose more than just an arm.” I heard a voice full of malice and hatred. I looked up to see the back of a man standing in front of me in a protective mater. I wasn’t sure who it was sense I couldn’t see his face.
“What are you doing!? Why are you helping that hunter!? She kills our people!" The vampire took a deep breath and looked at the man that had protected me, "I’ll make you a deal if you turn around now and kill her I will over look this betrayal.” The man in front of me just laughed.
“Now why would I kill my own partner.” My eyes widened. Erik. Erik had come to save me, but how did he know where I was? I looked towards the vampire and saw that his face was one of shock. He bolted off down the alley onto the main street and Erik let him. He turned around to face me with alook of no emotion. I was helpless, again. He picked me up bridal style and walked me out of the alley back towards where I had parked my car earlier. Neither of us spoke on the way back. He put me in the passenger’s seat and shut the door. A few seconds later he climbed into the driver’s seat, started the car, and was off onto the road.
It had been ten minutes and the silence remand. I had to brake it, I was going insane.
“How did you find me?” I asked, my voice was unsure. He only took a quick look at me but never answered. I looked down closing my eyes. “I’m sorry for being such a nuisance.” I felt him staring at me, but I didn’t look up.
“Why do you say that?”
“Huh?” I looked up and saw him staring at me with an excepting smile.
“You would have won if you hadn’t consumed all of that alcohol.” He said turning back to look at the road.
The drive home was long and I ended up falling asleep at some point but I swore I heard Erik mumble “don’t ever worry me like that again kayla.”
