"It's late October. The leaves are changing colors, out in the woods. It's nice outside enough to walk. Summer's been over for quite awhile, but I don't mind. The wind caresses, lovingly. Not caring whose heart she breaks. The sidewalk is empty. The people have long gone. But I sit here on this  bench. And sing this sad, old song. My heart is breaking. The cold air is harsh. She takes my breath without a thought. I'm left with this aching, this horrible hurt. Since you decided to take my precious heart, and throw it in the dirt. Now i'm all alone, on this journey of mine. Like Little Red Riding Hood, I'll go into the woods alone. I'll face that Big Bad Wolf and I'll tell him this 'You can't fuck with this Little Miss.' My head is aching, my heart is empty. My belly is full, and my mind's overwhelming. I'm down when I'm up, and I'm up when I'm down. Maybe now I can see why you left me for that clown..." Her voice is sweet, but the song is heartbreaking. I can tell she wrote it herself, because no one else is singing along. They're dropping generous tips in her case though. She closes her eyes and belts out the chorus. "Maybe I was blind, maybe you are, but that doesn't change the outcome. She gave you a smile, you gave her your heart, and I become the loser. In this game of hearts, I'm not sure I can play anymore because it hurts too much. Maybe I was blind, But I sure wish you were. So you couldn't see that bust." The crowd laughs. Even though she smiles when she says it I can see her sorrow. She thanks the crowd and collects her tips. Now or never.

"Miss?" She turns back and looks at me.

"Yes?"

"What's your name?" She looks at me a little odd.

"Why would you want to know a completly useless piece of information like that?" I blush and look down.

"Well, I figured...maybe....We could talk. I really like your music....well, your voice. Not so much the lyrics and...Uhm...." I lost my train of thought. Fuck.

"Thanks, I think." She smiles and walks closer. "But I could kick your ass for knockin' my lyrics."

"Uh, well...I didn't mean anything by it. I just...I write songs. And with your beautiful voice...." I stop talking when she's only a kissing distance away.

"Show them to me." She holds out her hand.

"I didn't bring them cause I wasn't sure if I'd talk to you today..."

"What's your address? I'll stop by sometime and come see them." I tell her my address quickly. She starts to walk away.

"Wait. Do you really wanna see them?" She turns around again, but continues collecting her money.

"Yes. Otherwise I wouldn't waste my time."

"Why?"

"Why what?"

"Why do you wanna see them?"

"Because....I dunno. You interest me. Anyway, I gotta get going. I'll see ya around, okay?" She puts her money in her pocket, and her guitar in her case, than walks up the stairs into the city. I smile and look after her, than realize I didn't get her name. Fuck. I run up the steps into the city, but she's nowhere to be seen. Guess I'll have to go home and wait. The walk back to my house is boring and slow. I'm about to open the door when her voice stops me.

"Took you long enough." I turn around and look at her. All 5'5 of her. Today her platnum/white blond hair was in a ponytail so you could see the black underneath. She was wearing a NeverShoutNever shirt and blue skinnies with her beat-up Converse. All-in-all....she was stunning.

"What are you doing here? Thought you had somewhere to go..." She looks down, than back up at me.

"Yeah, I did. But you seemed like the funner bet." She smiles and links her arm with mine. "So you gonna show me those songs or what?"

"Uh, yeah." I hurry and unlock the door, than throw the keys on the table. She follows me into my room. "Sorry it's such a mess." I walk to my desk and pull out my notepad. She walks over and grabd it, than promptly sits in my bed. Make yourself at home much?

"These are...." She continues reading. "Really good. Fuckin' amazing. How do they go?" We spend the next two hours mapping out the songs. We're interrupted when my mom comes home.

"Josh? Honey are you home?"

"Yeah, I'm in my room." I hear footsteps coming down the hallway and I look over and start to tell the girl to hide, but she's not there anymore. I look around my room, but I can't seem to find her. My mom appears in the doorway.

"What do you want for dinner?"

"I don't really mind. Anything, I guess." My mind is preoccupied trying to locate the girl.

"How does Mac & Cheese and hot dogs sound?"

"Good." She smiles at me than walks away, shutting my door behind her. Something taps my ankle the sencond the door shuts. I jump of the bed and fly into the chair by my desk.

"You're really jumpy, y'know that?" The girl pops out from under my bed. What the fuck?

"How'd you get under there?" She looks at me like I'm stupid.

"I crawled, like any other normal person."

"No I mean, without me noticing." She smiles.

"If I told you, I'd have to kill you. I'd better get going, before your mom finds out you had a girl in your room. Later, Josh." She opens my window and hops out before I have a chance to say anything back. Still didn't get her name!
