Chapter 2: Five Black Figures

The man keeps taking steps toward me but I don't make any move to back away. If I manage to distract him long enough then I don't want to be trapped at the end of the alley. Also, it means a shorter distance that I have to run to be out in the open.

He smirks at me and mumbles something to himself. My hands clench into fists at my sides. What kind of guy am I dealing with? Gang member? Criminal? Most wanted? I look at him but Ican't decide but I'm beginning to think that he isn't just a gang member. He smirks at me again. What does he have in mind? Murder? Rape? Slavery? Ransom? He seems to read my mind because he takes longer, eager steps toward me.

"Don't worry, babe. I'm not going to hurt you... for now," he teases. My heartbeat quickens and I stop breathing. He laughs a deep, loud laugh that sends chills down my spine. Now, he is barely out of my reach. I can feel small tremors erupt from my body at the thought of fighting such a strong looking guy. Isurprise him by taking a step closer to him. His eyes widen and he raises his eye brows. I smile sweetly at him.

"I'm not worried," I try to say in a happy, inviting voice. He smiles and starts to raise his hand from his side. I take this as my signal to make a move.

I raise my fist quickly and punch him in the nose as hard as I can. I hear the bone snap beneath my nuckles and blood comes gushing out. "You little b*tch!" he yells. His hand reaches out as I start running past him and out into the open. He grabs onto my arm before I can get very far. His hold is so tight that I can feel my skin bruising under his fingers. I wince and he laughs. I scrim around to see if I can losen his grip. All it does is cause me more pain and him to tighten his grip. I look up at his scary face. Blood is still flowing heavily and is dripping down onto his shirt. I quickly focus my eyes on something else otherwise the blood will make me faint. His grip tightens again.

I spin around so quickly that he can't react besides widening his eyes. Without thinking, I raise my foot and kick him in his balls. He lets of me immediatly and his hands drop. "Shit! Ow! Stop that!"

I take off at a full sprint. Adrenaline is pulsing through my viens, urging me to run faster. This is the fastest I've ever ran in my life. The writing on the the brick walls is blurred as Ifly by. It feels like I will lift off the ground with my next step. If only. That would be so much easier!I can hear the man cussing behind me and coming after me. I listen to the uneven pounding of his feet. I refuse to look back though, afraid of how close he might be.

I can see the lights from the main streetss getting closer and brighter. I push myself even harder. I feel my hopes rise with every inch that I get closer to safety and away from this stranger. Then, five figures that I hadn't seen before move from the shadows and block my path and the only exit from the alley. Iskid to a stop and stare at them dumbfounded. Ugh!!! When is this going to end?!? Am I destined to die tonight? Give me a break, fate!"

The five black figures take slow, even paced steps toward me. They all move together perfectly and in sinc. It looks like the practiced walking like that because it looks perfect. It shows that they are a tight group and I can feel danger venting off of them. If my llife wasn't in danger right now, I might be able to think of it as beautiful and movie like. While they move quietly and effortessly, the man pounds closer to me and I can hear him breathing heavily.

I can't help but stare at the mysterious figures moving towards me. The man's cussing becomes clearer and I can make out every dirty and dangerous word escaping his lips. I glance over my shoulder and gasp. He is almost to me. Think Bella! Do something! Anything! I listen to my inner self and run towards a trash can on one side of me. I grab the lid off of it and a long, sharp metal stick laying next to it. Let's hope I can find someway to defend myself.

I run forward towards the five figures. There formation changes and before Iknow it they are standing in a circle around me. Damn it! One figure comes up behind me and puts a hand over my mouth and eyes so I can't see or scream. I bite the hand as hard as I can. It instantly lets me go and I try to step forward but another set of hands comes to my face.

"If you bite me, I'll kill you right now. Right here," a deep, husky voice says. I don't move my mouth but squirm and struggle to try and escape his hold. Suddenly, someone kicks me in the back of my knees and I fall to the ground. Two other black figures come up to me. One grabs my hands and holds them tightly behind my back. The other ties them together. The rope is cutting of my circulation and cutting into my skin. I wince and moan. Another figure comes up to me and kneels by my head as the one that threaten to kill me lets go. The new figure gags me so I can't talk or scream. He stares at me and I'm awed at his beautiful face. His hair is dark and he has deep, light blue eyes that are softer than his fellow companions.

"Is that too tight?" he whispers only loud enough that I can hear and none of the other figures. My eyes widen at the first kind words I've heard all night. He stares at me and I realize he is waiting for me to answer. I shake my head and he smiles faintly before blind folding me. I sense him stand up. Then heavy footsteps reach me and the five figures.

"This girl is a lot of trouble," the man that I first met says angrily. I hear a few mumbles of agreement. Then, someone hits me hard on the head with metal. It feels like a baseball bat. I feel like everything is spinning.

"Was that nessasary? She was behaving pretty well," the kinder voice asks. I can only hear him faintly as I start to drift off.

"Don't tell me your going soft son? Otherwise you will be down there with her," the man says. That is the last thing I hear before everything goes black.
