Introduction: Elements of this Novel may or may not sound familiar to some of you. If it does, it's because this novel was on my previous account: GiggleMonster2. I have completed it on that account but I wanted to update it and make the story line stronger and detail it a lot better. Please leave your thoughts, comments, criticism, and anything else you might have to say. Thank You! ~Z
“Hey,” I heard. “My name is Luna. Is it alright if I sit here?”
I looked away from the textbook and placed my eyes on a girl that I had never seen before. Her violet eyes stared excitedly at me, a hopeful glint in them. I gave a small smile and nodded, not wanting to be polite but knowing I had to. I looked back to the front of the classroom and watched as all the other students reluctantly take their seats.
“So what’s your name?” Luna whispered.
“Derek,” I muttered, failing to make eye contact. Luna stayed silent for a moment and I began to think that she finally took my hint.
“You know I was half expecting a compliment.” She stated.
I looked at her. “Why?”
“I don’t mean to sound conceited or cocky, but were you even looking at me just a minute ago? Or didn’t you notice my white hair and violet eyes?” Her voice carried a harsh tone, a little smug, but I didn’t mind.
“What type of compliments do other people give you?” I asked.
Luna looked up towards the ceiling, pretending to think about the answer to my question. “They usually say I’m pretty and my eyes are cool. Well, they say my whole exterior is cool. I guess you could say I have a cool vibe going on. What is that word that everyone uses? Swag?”
I stared at her blankly. Did she really just use that word? If there was any word I did not associate myself with, it was the word swag. It was a stupid word, but I suppose it gets the job done. I quickly shrugged it off, hoping to finally put an end to this conversation.
“If it’s any consolation, I did notice your eyes.”
“I’ll take that as a compliment,” She smiled.
I gave her a weak smile, and looked back at my textbook. At the top of the page read Chapter One: Drama. Out of all my years in high school, I will never understand what possessed me to take a class in drama. I don’t have an interest in acting, not even the slightest bit, but I would if I had to.
The bell to begin the class finally rang. The teacher walked to the front of the classroom and smiled. Her hands were clasped together and placed in front of her legs. “Good Morning,” She said. Most of the class muttered the words back to her and she continued on with her greeting. “I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. To start off the week good, I would like to welcome our newest student to the class.”
Everyone instantly began to scour the classroom for the newest face. “Luna, would you please stand up?” Luna took a stand. It was at this moment that I finally noticed how attractive she was.
Her white hair was wavy and stopped about an inch beneath her shoulders. Her skin was flawless and black eyeliner lightly rimmed her bottom eyelids. You could tell she was wearing mascara because her eyelashes looked thicker, almost like they were frosted with a black coating, and her lips were covered in pink lip gloss.
Looking at Luna made me feel like I was in a winter wonderland. She had a frosty look to her face, but I suppose that was the point she was trying to make. Honestly, she was beautiful, but I couldn’t let something as simple as beauty get a hold of my head. There are a lot of beautiful people.
I heard a bang on my bedroom door, awaking me from my sleep. I groggily sit up on my bed, rubbing my eyes and scratching my head. I walked over to the door, pressing my palm on the side of it and peering out. I saw a head full of tousled brown hair and I instantly knew who I was looking at: Ashton.
“Dude,” I yawned. “You woke me up from a good ass sleep.”
“Sorry man, but I had to come over here.” Ashton pushed his way past my bedroom door, not bothering to wait for me to invite him in.
“What’s so important that you had to rush over here?” I asked.
He tossed a blue sheet of paper at me and waited for me to read it. “A party?” I said.
“Yeah! I heard it’s going to be totally rad.” He said.
I rolled my eyes and lay back on my bed, crossing my arms and putting them behind my head. I waited for Ashton to continue. I don’t know why he insisted on coming over here when he knows parties aren’t my thing. Call me a geek, but I’d much rather sit home and read a book.
“Are you going to come with me?” He asked. “I could use a wing man tonight.”
“A wing man?” I raised an eyebrow and stared at him incredulously. “For what?”
“I saw a girl today at school. She was smoking’ hot.” He smiled and walked over to the mirror in my room, messing with his hair.
“Okay,” I said. “Just get out and give me a minute.”
As Ashton exited my room I walked over to my closet. I don’t normally go to parties, but when I did, it was because Ashton wanted to pick up a girl. Ashton’s a nice guy, but he’s been with more girls than I can count.
I grabbed a pair of dark blue jeans and slipped them on. I shuffled through my shirts and settled with a black collared shirt, picking up my best pair of white sneakers. I hated parties, but it doesn’t mean I don’t want to look my best.
