“Haben Sie eine Freundin?” Her eyes were her most beautiful feature; so big and so bright, but what seemed to have caught my attention was the sullenness she had no intentions to hide.
I could read it in her motions- and her voice, though she’s never talked directly to me until that very moment.
“…” there was silence once she turned those piercing eyes in my directions. I gulped silently, sucking in my quivering gut. “Who wants to know?” She understood me, which was good, but her monotonic
tone made it hard to depict if she was interested or not. “I-” I scanned the room in search of a poor helpless student to blame this on, and in finding not a one, I looked to my desk, scanning the
blank page “I dunno,” a sigh escaped my chest before I met her stare “I guess I was just wondering.” Something told me that she knew I was lying, perhaps it was because I knew she was far to
clever to fall for such tricks. “You’re weird.” That wasn’t what I was looking for… I thought my heart sank in my stomach. In a way it was good, because maybe my heart would’ve been heavy
enough to fall on the fluttering butterflies to just lay there and smother them melodramatically.
Once the bell rang it lifted the awkward air. I was one of the first to stand though my things were still cluttered over the desk. “You have a nice voice.” she said before I walked away, I smirk
fighting back a full smile. “Oh?”
“Yes, we should talk more.” We locked eyes for a moment, though only a few seconds it felt like much more. Those hazel eyes glazed lightly with a tent of green could’ve taken my breath away at the
scene, but I had things to do unfortunately, so I couldn’t be so lucky. “Yeah.” I backed away to leave, “Yeah, we should.” when I turned I wore a smile that reached from ear to ear. My heart
survived the fall, the butterflies lifted it back to my chest, and I felt that in some odd way.. I had a date.
