The two shining lights turned the corner, attached to a body. A cowering little girl, not so much younger than myself, stood there amongst the shadows. “Hello,” she called, her smooth voice echoing against the trees, “Who is this?” I did not answer, just stared deeper and deeper into her eyes, still glowing. The light that shone from them, shimmered in the puddle making it look like a sea of diamonds. “Amdis Grey,” I eventually replied, still mesmerised by her eyes, “Who are you?” “Maria Desoto,” she replied politely, the glow beginning to fade, “Nice to meet you, Amdis.” I edged closer as the distraction of her eyes lessened. “Are you in need of help?” I asked, reaching out for her hand. “Some, possibly.” She clutched my wrist back, her blood burning my stone cold skin. I had forgotten what it felt like to hold the hand of a human.
She shuddered, feeling the cold of my marble hands and looked up to stare into my face. \"Wow,\" she commented, \"Beautiful eyes.\" \"I could say the same about you.\" I chuckled, noticing that the alienated glow had now disappeared completely from her face.
