Dear Diary,

The first day of school is always the worst. No matter how good it may have seemed the previous year, someone hated it and leaves. This, children, is how we get new pupils. At our school especially since it is hated pretty much nationwide. Maybe that was a slight exaggeration but we always have at least one go and one come every year though it is usually more. I knew we were going to get a few new people this year as Nancy and Kayla Drew had left for private school, who blames them? If I was a billionaire, I would too. My father, Tomaz (aka Mr Adamski), is hardly a billionaire. He is a teacher at my school and hated by everyone, especially me and my class. He treats me like his little princess and it gets rather annoying. I am only with him for European Foreign Languages where we learn Polish which is not your usual language. My father is Polish so he is rather the best language teacher in the school. I, myself, do not know a word of the language outside of the classroom because we speak English all the time at home. My brother, Feliks, is so enthusiastic about our father’s nationality and it really gets to the nerves.
“Oh, Papa, when are we going to Polska again?”really can become severely annoying, believe it or not. I do get a break from my family though. Mainly with Natasha and Veronica; my best friends. They are in a totally different world to my family which helps, a lot. Natasha Prukushka is one of six so she is always happy to leave her busy house and Veronica Marie is way too hyper for her mum to handle. Her and her sister, both suffering from ADHD, are rarely in the house so her mum can have peace the rest of the day before they are back. My home is relatively quiet compared to theirs which is why I feel so much like the odd one out though, really, I know that is not the case.

After six weeks at home, I know school will certainly feel like a break rather than the holiday.

Until tomorrow,

Kasia ‘Ana’ Adamski
