Gabriel’s life was different after his mother told his father, that he is an angel. Gabriel’s dad treated him differently afterwards, every time Gabriel talked his dad would interrupt. One night Gabriel got so angry he set his dinner table on fire.
“Gabriel, come get tea.” his mother would shout. Gabriel could here father discuss something on the phone, something that could involve him, or something like moving his mother and father away and leave him, who knows. But Gabriel could tell it wasn’t good whatever it was. “So Gabriel how was school?” his mother would ask over eating a piece of meatloaf. “Fin…” he replied after he was interrupted. “So tell me babes” his father yelled above him. “Sorry honey but I was talking to our son” his mother would answer back annoyed. Gabriel could tell that there was a conflict between his parents; “Mum just ignore it.” Gabriel would say calmly. Then his father stood up and yelled “Young man since when do you call me IT?” Gabriel felt a pulse different from before he summoned Earthroot, “Dad don’t do any more please.” he would ask in the flow of energy. “Or what you’ll use magic or some…” Gabriel suddenly felt the climax of the rush. Gabriel tried to warn them but it was too late, a red light of pure energy flew out his body and exploded.
Gabriel was left unconscious for what seemed hours but in fact was a matter of minutes, he got up and looked around the room “mum, dad, anyone.” there was no answer. The room was black from being burned. There was fire everywhere, from what looked like the dinner table; there was burned food, charred plates and cutlery. He walked over to where his mother sat; he pushed the few piece of debris out of the way, lying there was his mother looking helpless, and sick. “Mum, mum wake up please.” he said shaking her. He heard a cough not far away, “dad.” he yelled with hope. He went over to see if he can help, “Get out you, you FREAK.” his dad yelled with a shortage of breath. With that Gabriel got up and headed for the door, he ran upstairs to his room he knows he will never see again. He pulled out a suitcase, he unzipped the case and went for the wardrobe and forced what he could in to the case. Then he zipped it up again, all was puling through his mind was how he was going to survive, but he knew he would find a way.
Walking down the path not looking twice at the house, he said “He must know he’ll come looking one day.” He walked down the long highroad leading into LA; the cars that passed him looked at him hopelessly. As Gabriel walked further into the night trying not to think of the event had corresponded that night. He didn’t know what will happen to him then he thought. What if I summon Earthroot, with that he tried within a matter of minutes there stood she stood. “Can you help me please?” he pleaded to her. She just looked at him, “what do you want?” she questioned back. “To find somewhere to go.” he answers. “Only you will know where to go.” With that she dismissed herself and vanished into thin air. “Only you know where to go.” he thought over.
Two weeks had passed and still on the streets, Gabriel still didn’t know what Earthroot meant until now. Two men in black came running down the dark and damp alleyway. “Mister Stiles, Gabriel sties?” asked the taller of the two. “No I don’t go by that name anymore.” he replied. “So are who are you then?” asked the smallest. “I’m… angel.” said Gabriel looking around. “Well angel. Looking for somewhere to go then come with us.” asked the tallest. Gabriel was only on the street for two weeks but he knew not to go with them, but there was something deep down was telling him to go with them. “Please come with us don’ make us do this, its better if you cooperate.” Gabriel notice them open there blazers to expose to guns with a needle. “Fine, but what’s the catch” Gabriel asked wearily. “Nothing much, just tests on your gifts.” Gabriel reluctantly nodded. “Follow us” they men in black said leading him to a car, Gabriel grabbed his stuff and headed to the car.
