[Sunday, January 8]
“Zept is a friend of mine, Eiry. You really don’t have to worry so much,” Guyver said again, trying to explain to her.
“He cut off your arm!”
“We train hard, and don’t Lupa fight a lot?”
“We don’t go around cutting of limbs or breaking ribs! People would end up killing each other!”
“That’s not gonna happen, really,” he said. “It’s mostly healed already, anyway,” he reminded her, indicating the bark covered arm.
“Guyver...” God, she must really love him, with that look on her face—that it must be painful, wanting to protect him despite his assurances, somewhat insenced for him.
Putting his good hand on her arm, he tried to calm her down. “Please listen to me, sweetheart.”
At first she glared back at him, but he kept trying, and finally she began to look calmer as he tried to convey the feeling that had made him trust Luke, or when she’d calmed him down in the middle of the night after the fight.
“Are…are you sure you’ll be okay? All this has been happening so fast.”
“Look, I promise not to leave the Quite until I’m feeling okay. You don’t have a full day tomorrow either and if you don’t go you’ll be all stressed about it. I’ll be fine, I promise.”
“But you can’t control other people.”
“No, but I'm pretty sure we got the whole 'hey long time no see dude! Let's beat the crap out of each other like old times' out of our system.”
“What about breakfast?”
“I have cereal and fruit. Now go, please. I don’t want you stressed about work, or me.”
“You worry about me all the time.”
“Hmm...but that’s different,” he said, teasing her a bit. “I’m supposed to protect you.”
“Well apparently you need it, too.”
“Only on the mushy inside,” he responded with a grin, before going more serious. “You always know how to keep me from going off, and it makes me feel so safe when you hold me,” he said, good hand caressing the side of her face as he leaned in for a few sensitive kisses, more full of delicate feelings than passion. Then he brought out Dimension Diver, making the gateway, and gently pushed her through.
