Chapter 8

When all else fails

“Rin-chan, Gray-kun, where are you from? You don’t look like you’re from Japan…” A student asked them after class, during lunch. Rin looked up at the student, her pink eyes looking really nervous. She looked over at Takashima, who was staring out the window.

“We’re from Italy. Our father is Japanese; we just take more from our mother’s side, which is Italian.” Gray said, not looking at any of the students around him and his sister. Rin blushed from nervousness, and nodded in agreement. The students around all gasped, quite shocked to hear that.

When Takashima overheard, he looked over at them. Rin blushed a little more when she saw him looking, and looked away. Takashima sighed, and looked back out the window. Ryuuki looked over at him before looking back at Rin. There just wasn’t something right…

“Fae!” Kaito shouted as he stepped foot in the room where he was. Fae jumped, causing his glasses to fall off his face. He sighed, and spun his chair around to look at Kaito. He rested his arm on the arm rest, and leaned his head in his hand.

“What is it, Kaito?” Fae said, trying to keep calm.

“Who is she?” Fae blinked, and sat up straight. Kaito stepped out of the way, so Fae could see the girl. His eyes widened, and practically jumped out of his chair.

“W-where did you find her Kaito?!” Fae yelled, pointing to the girl. Kaito stared sternly at him, making Fae swallow hard.

“Tell me about her… Felix.”

“Ezon-san?” Ryuuki looked at Takashima as he opened a can of tuna with his hand. He looked over at her.

“What do you think of the Nagasaki twins?” Takashima blinked, and looked back and Rin and Gray. Rin looked at him, getting caught by surprise that he was looking at her. Gray looked at him, and rolled his eyes, mumbling something to himself. Takashima snickered, and looked back at his tuna.

“I think Gray is an uptight bastard, and Rin is too shy to know what to do.” he said as he stuffed some tuna in his mouth. Ryuuki just nodded, and looked down at her hands in her lap. She clenched them together, and shook her head slightly. Takashima glanced at her, and shook his head.

“Is that your way of asking if I like them or not?” Ryuuki was caught by surprised, and looked up at him. He ran his fingers through his hair, and sighed as he looked over at her.

“You don’t really want me to like them, right? ‘Cause if that was the case, you’d have the feeling that I’d leave you and go be with them, right? So, you basically just want me all to yourself? How selfish of you, Ryuuki~” He said with a smirk. Ryuuki blushed a little, and looked away. Takashima smiled a little, and stood up. He put his hand on her head, making her look up at him. She watched as he walked out of the classroom. She looked back at Gray, who was playing with his pencil. He was tapping it on his desk, and suddenly stood up and walked out of the classroom.

“Nii-san!” Rin stood up and looked at him. Gray sighed, not moving to look at his twin sister.

“I’ll be back in a few, don’t worry, Rin.” He said before walking out of the classroom. Rin nodded slowly sat back down. Ryuuki looked over at her, and smiled. She stood up, and walked over to her.

“Hi, Rin-chan.”

Takashima sighed as he lied down on a tree branch. He looked up at the sky through the other tree branches and leaves. He smiled a little to himself, and closed his eyes, stretching a little.

“You’re Takashima, right?” Takashima slowly opened his eyes, and sighed. He sat up, and looked down at his pink eyed classmate. He narrowed his eyes at him slightly.

“Yes. I am. Is there business you have with me that I don’t know about?” Gray glared at him slightly, and shook his head.

“Come out of the tree and then we’ll talk… Senpai.” Takashima smirked slightly at the title. He chuckled a little, and put on leg off the branch and slightly swung it back and forth.

“I don’t know if I can trust you or not, though. Let’s test that, shall we?” Takashima beckoned Gray with his finger, smirking more. Gray growled, and kicked the tree, so hard in fact that Takashima fell from the branch. He walked over to him, and knelt down to his level. Takashima rubbed his head and looked at him.

“Now that you’re down, let’s have a talk, then.”
