Topic: Introduce yourself!

I may have introduced myself but I did not see you. Say hello here! If you need a prompt we can start off with:

1. Your favorite genre to write ie like zombies, ghosts, etc.
2. Your favorite author
3. One silly fact
4. Recent projects

I will go first!

1. I have written about zombies and vampires, I like all things spooky and creepy
2. Anne Rice (rip <3) and Stephen King. Some comics as well like The Walking Dead
3. I tend to sneak into the kitchen at 2 am to eat a slice of American cheese
4. I am working on a fantasy book and it will be my first novel. The zombie one I wrote was short so this one is a lot of work

Re: Introduce yourself!

I very much appreciate your enthusiasm with this little group, therefore I shall present myself as well.
1.I have no preference so long as it is horror
2. Definitely going with Mario Puzo. Putting "The Godfather" aside, his "The Sicilian" was another masterpiece that is highly underrated.
3. I don't often talk with people, I simply like to listen what other people have to say about a subject.
4. I am working on my 11th short story in my upcoming book "Untold tales that never dawned upon the light of day" titled "To become God".

3

Re: Introduce yourself!

1. Probably horror/sci-fi. Like the Tommyknockers or Alien. The Dean Koontz Frankenstein series was also terrific.
2. Stephen King.
3. I eat a tomato every day.
4. I'm noodling a story around about technology and how it impacts our domestic life.

Hi everyone!

4

Re: Introduce yourself!

Namaste every one. Thank you for the invitation, alchiap. smile

1. I like historical novels, especially ancient ones. I have never read a horror book.
2. No particular author
3. I start humming or singing whenever I remember embarrassing incidents of past. big_smile
4. I am planning to write a book, like an intro, on the dynasties of Bharat (India).

Thank you.

Hi all,

Thanks for the invite.

Nice to meet everyone!

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hello, thank you for the invite. I'm not exactly a horror author but I do enjoy writing and keeping to the concept.

1) I like to dabble in psychological and atmospheric horror, rather than just horror as in monster in itself. I believe what the mind can create is scarier than any zombies or ghost, although they help.
2)I do enjoy Stephen King's work quite a bit cause he hits what I want in the horror section, although he tend to go further inmany cases.
3)I get too into character and write too much science related topics in my writing
4)Nothing in particular but I have been working on my novel here for a while. I took a break last year to get better ideas but I've continued it now.

Have a nice day.

Re: Introduce yourself!

New to this house, doesn't look as scary as I feared.   I have been writing full time for about two years, starting with espionage and then trying my hand at classic crime mystery.   I have started to get interested in expanding, I like the idea of a scary story without monsters.  Something that frightens at the core of your being, because it could be real.

The best ones are the ones with a twist! Welcome to our little group!

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hi, it's Hully. How could I resist a house devoted to my beloved horror - lol!

11

Re: Introduce yourself!

So, I should have read the instructions.

1/ My favorite horror is supernatural, but I also love zombies, vampires and almost anything else you can think of so long as it is not too graphic for no other reason than shock value.
2/ I don't have one favorite author. Sarah England, Ronald Malfi, James Herbert and sometimes Stephen King would be among those I'd check out for new titles.
3/ I grew up near to a place locally known as Spooky Hall. I am currently considering buying an ouija board.
4/ I've not been writing anything other than poetry recently but I want to get back to it and hope to write something for the House prompts.

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hello, everyone. I'm new to this group. I've written a book, working on a couple more, and I've written several short stories. In my short stories, I prefer first-person POV and exposing the perp as the evil-doer that he is, often with a twist. My first novel, They Call Me Ms., features a lady detective operating in the Washington, DC Metro area who gets herself out of trouble almost as fast as she gets into it. She's clever, capable, and can take care of herself when it comes to trouble, but she's also vulnerable and unsure of herself when it comes to matters of the heart. Still, her fearlessness sustains her in a crunch; she's strong-willed and won't back down. Check out Vic Carella in They Call Me Ms., available now on Amazon.

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hello. I am Lilian Reaper and I'm here to introduce myself and establish my standing as a poetic author.
I would love to share here the countless poetry I've written about my perspective with depression and my own inner demons with poetry so dark and yet unseen by the likes of ye. I never stopped writing when I disappeared from this platform and now it's time for to share the plunders from my journey. I'll be prototyping my first real poetry book here but be warned for it is not for the weary of heart. I'd describe the collection I wish to share here something more along the lines of psychological horror since it's the catalog of someone slowly losing their mind to depression and it's dangerous thoughts.
My favorite author is easily Edgar Allen Poe, for he left me truly and utterly inspired.
Partaker of magicks and their studies I am obsessed with all things out of place, my favorite stories being about cryptids or the supernatural of all kinds.
I look forward to publishing to here and sharing my many a story.

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hello! My name is Maria and I've been hooked on writing since I wrote my first thriller short story about a haunted house in third grade. My writing has (hopefully) improved since then. I finished my first full-length horror novel a few years ago, and I have an ongoing collection of horror shorts. I am also working on a couple other novels as well. My favorite authors are Stephen King and Edgar Allen Poe. I live in Virginia with my police officer boyfriend, who loves to tease that I "better not do the things" I write about, our two dogs, and his two kids. A fun fact about myself, and my novel Blackwater Springs, is that it is loosely based on my Kentucky hometown. I'm as avid a reader as I am a writer, and I look forward to reading some of my fellow horror authors' works!

Re: Introduce yourself!

I guess I'm pretty long overdue, but better late than never, eh?

1. I don't read or write a lot of Horror in general, but I started reading some H. P. Lovecraft not too long ago and that inspired me. I love cosmic horror with malovelent entities from mysterious unfathomable dimensions and farflug dark corners of the universe,
2. In Horror, definitely Lovecraft. Overall, probably Ray Bradbury.
3. Neither strawberries nor dingleberries are truly berries, but one tastes substantially better than the other.
4. I have a story planned out about a young woman meeting a robot in the post-apocalyptic ruins of what turns out to be Las Vegas. At some point I need to ger back to it. I also have a big SciFi novel in my head about the end of a galactic civilization. (I think of it as "Wolf's Rain in space"--but without the wolves.) I have an opening chapter/prologue posted on my portfolio. The most recent bit of writing I actually completed was a little first person tale for April Fool's day about how surreal the past few years have been.

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hello everyone, my name is Arkham71 and as my name implies I am a huge fan of H.P. Love- oh wait that's supposed to be posted in point two isn't it?

1. I write a lot of stories that cross genre lines and horror is one of those genres. As a result, I believe that I will feel quite at home here.
2. My favorite horror writer is Howard Phillips Lovecraft. However is he a horror writer or a science fiction author? He was pretty much a cross-genre writer when you think about it.
3. Vampires are the perfect astronauts. Minimal "life" support needed, just a supply of dehydrated blood for food, don't age, don't lose mental acuity as they age, no bone decomposition due to low gravity... NASA needs vampires!
4. I'm currently writing about a necromancer who finds out his family friend was secretly an alchemist. Set in an alternate, "steampunk" (for lack of a better term) 2015 where neo-Victorianism is all the rage it follows the main character Howard as he searches for clues as to what his friend was up to before he died. What he finds is surprising even to Howard himself... This is just a novella and is a work in progress. Meanwhile, I am posting my completed novel "Her Brother's Keeper" here on this site a few chapters at the time. Arkham is a busy Arkham. smile

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hello, my name Viloet :]

It is nice to meet you all, funny enough, I get scared watching horror movies and hate being easily spooked. But I love reading and writing horror stories for fun. Yeah, a lot of my friends and family still don't get that logic lol.

I find writing the things that make you scared, is the biggest comfort of them all to face your fears no matter how irrational it may seem.

Fav horror author: RL. Stine, I loved the mask and welcome to the dead house and he used have books where you get to choose your fate in a haunted house. Also Neail Gaiman, hands down, when he wrote Coraline. I got easily spooked the man knew what he was doing. Then he can switch it up to a nice heartfelt romance with his story stardust, yeah, that author is cool to switch up elements easily.

I'm more into thriller and mysteries, but I feel like those are the two ingredients to make a horror pie! I really love psychological horror- I read and watched silence of the lambs. The way the doctor said Clarice gives me the willies.

I tend to write a lot of supernatural: Vampires, ghosts, Demons, Wolves,

I'm currently writing a horror story called unfortunate souls: I really wanted to dive deep into the horror, which is something I don't normally do, so I made more like a challenge for myself.

Anyways, it's lovely to meet you all! Looking forward to being in this house!

Re: Introduce yourself!

1.    scifi/horror
2.    stephehn King
3.    my shoulder can easily pop out and in socket. (I know it’s probably not funny, but I cou;ld not think of something funny atm)
4.    I am working on a series of ten stories about two friends who encounter paranormal beings such as vampires and werewolves. The friends sometimes die or get turned into creatures themselves. They always are back to normal in the next story. I finally published the first five stories on  Booksie. I also wrote a long story about alien dinosaurs

Hi Violet,
I also love R.L Stine! I read all 62 original Goosebumps books when I was a kid and watched the TV show. I never got scared reading the books, but there was 1 episode of the TV show that really scared me. It was Welcome to Camp Nightmare when that creepy puppet snuck up from behind. i knew it was only a robot, but it was still scary.
Anyway, I kept watching the show and reading the books. It was so fun getting to the end and finding out the twist!

Hey Charlie,

Yes, I also love stephen king also. MY fav is missery the book and the movie. I still have the paper copy of the missery book on my shelves. Seems we have in common with writing elements with supernatural! Same here, loved the book series and shows. Now Are you afraid of the dark scared me more than goosebumps. I remember the camp episode sort, do you mean slappy the puppet? If so, yeah, he was scary. Dolls didn't really care for as a kid, didn't even like Barbie dolls lol.  Some books of RL stine is legendary! Then he made a new goosebumps, it was like more mid 200s, I wasn't born yet when the original goosebumps show came out. The goosebumps haunting hour was more around mine, I think i was like eleven when it came out.  No one can write like RL Stine, the dude like legendary

Not Slappy. Sabre, the dog puppet from Welcome to Camp Nightmare. Slappy didn't scare me. Except, maybe when he suddenly appears.

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hey! My name is McKenna and I am 22 years old and a psychology student!
1. I love to write anything involving witches, vampires, and werewolves!
2. I'm a fan of Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King, and I've read a little bit of Anne Rice and Alice Hoffman and enjoyed what I have read, but I'm not familiar with enough of their work to say whether I enjoy them as a whole.
3. I'm autistic and work with autistic kids and get a lot of funny comments from them. My favorite is that apparently, I'm "really good at easy stuff, but not so much the hard stuff." I'm not sure if this counts as a silly fact but it was the first thing that came to mind.
4. I haven't been writing too much lately because I usually work full-time or nearly full-time hours while also having a nearly full-time school schedule, but I did start a short story involving witchcraft and have a few ideas for other short stories lined up.

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hello! My name is Kit :)

1. My favorite genre to write is fantasy but I love to support my friend, Alchiap. I also really enjoy reading what others write in the horror genre.
2. My favorite author is Richelle Mead. She wrote Vampire Academy and the spin-off series Bloodlines (and more than that). I just really enjoy her writing style and find it comfortable. I have them on audio and re-listen to them often.
3. My cat likes to go on walks with me and the dog, off-leash.
4. I haven't been writing as much as I wish but the last thing I worked on was my short story Heart's Desire which is in a magical fantasy genre.
