The idea for this poem actually did come from a gas station. You see, there is a local gas station in our area that tries to put compelling sayings on it, such as "Good fortune comes to those who wait." Well, around Valentine's day, they posted a sign that said "True love never fades." At the time, I thought it was corny, but I still wanted to use it in a poem eventually. It wasn't until late June when my first real boyfriend dumped me that I realized how true the words were. As the months passed, it inspired me to write these words. I hope they came out sincerely.
