Today(February 13th) is the day Australia says sorry to the aborigines we have treated so poorly for the first time. Kevin Rudd(our new Prime Minister)has publicly said sorry on behalf of Australia and its past. In the past, we as Australians, treated the aborigines horribly. We even tried to breed the blackness out of them. This is known as the stolen generation. When we saw a lighter skinned aborigine, we put them in a white family and made them live the white life. The aborigine (that probably didn't know he/she was one) would marry a white and the child would be even lighter coloured. This process continued until we finally stopped. This poem is my way of saying sorry.
