I in that day, and when that day passes,

I thought that I would stand and rejoice,

Lift my head and die with pride gripped in hand,

And firmly stand with with the courage of the past kings

and accept death with a grin.

I pictured myself striking fear into fear--death into death,

But if reality faces me, with its burning eyes

and its chaining hands,

I know that when death gags me, shame would anoint me,

and tears would loom.

I know that I’m too weak to fight death’s hold.

I thought I would fall into death without distress,

But I see myself leaving plagued by fear.

In truth I deny who I’ve made myself to be,

Yet accept this person I am.

A mirror’s reflection defines no thing of worth.

I wish reality wasn’t real sometimes,

I wish I would take up who I’m supposed to be,

I wish I were like you.
