A Nightmare

The darkness is playing games

Clowns with many names,

Begging for your mind to play along.

With a twist and a shout,

They’ll have you calling out,

Obscenities that will soon begin to sprout

Into mindless mumblings most absurd.

They say a nightmare is not reality

That it is all a dream.

From what I know is that they’re wrong,

Dreams don’t make you scream.

From what your mother lets you hear,

You have nothing left to fear!

That all of it is only in your head.

They say a nightmare is not reality

That it is all a dream.

From what I know is that they’re wrong,

Dreams don’t make you scream.

The ghosts and the ghouls

Are only used as tools

To fill your mind full of dread.

Heed my advice

Do not think twice,

Forget what your mother has said.

They say a nightmare is not reality

That it is all a dream.

From what I know is that they’re wrong,

Dreams don’t make you scream.

Skeletons dance while the demons prance

On the only shred of sanity you have left.

Go ahead, give in!

Go on and let them win!

But don’t let your mother hear you shriek

For you may have finally reached your peak,

Soon they will all have to die.

They say a nightmare is not reality

That it is all a dream.

From what I know is that they’re wrong,

Dreams don’t make you scream.
