Wrenched from a day dream

by a sudden strike of pain

tortured stomach

nausea, spinning my mind

weak, every gesture an effort

can't focus

vision blurred

arrrgghh!, doubled over again

fighting to level out

pitch and yaw of my actions

out of control

straining to keep an

even keel

awash in desperation

so close, must focus

stay on track

desperate cross-country dash

pitfalls everywhere

a structure

a haven, safety

must hide, shelter

acknowledged with the taste of salt

pain worsening, blacking out

"Come and get it!"

Thank God

I couldn't have waited any longer

the charred smell of

a perfectly seasoned steak assaults

my olfactory sense

salivating in anticipation

I hungrily watch

my ultimate desire

through the smoke of a BBQ
