A SCREAM IN THE NIGHT
By Al Garcia
I hear thunder in the distance, like a scream in the darkened sky.
The sound astounds me from the revelry of my dreams, like an unexpected pain, sharp and deep.
The scream becomes a rumble, and then, I hear raindrops on the windowpane. Soothing. Comforting. Deceiving.
The thundering screams become a chorus of light and sound, lighting up the evening sky, displaying nature’s majesty and dominance.
I hear thunder in the distance, and am awed by the energy and the force. The sound, the fury, decries the frailty and witless nature of the human race, battling itself into extinction by provoking the fury of nature itself.
