Life is but a stepping stone through time . . . to a place beyond the reach of tears.

THE BARREN STRAITS OF TIME

By Al Garcia

Stripped naked and abandoned of all passion and emotion, it is the destiny of man to roam the barren straits of time, and mourn the moments and the seasons squandered and lost.

Reflections of memories, and echoes of uncompleted lives and shattered dreams, like stepping stones through time, that lead to barren fields where once golden daffodils bloomed, and Robins, Cardinals and Blue Jays sang.

The barren straits of time.  A place beyond the reach of tears, that takes our breath away, and the ecstasy of life we thought invincible and invulnerable.

A momentary deflection.  A singular sensation.  And gone are the borders and edges of life.  Gone are the heights of wonder and the depths of despair.  And left, is the barren straits of time.  Endless.  Cold.  Lonely.

The barren straits of time.  A place beyond the reach of tears, where time no longer binds or constrains the human soul with the exertion or complexities of life, nor the cruelty or brutality of man.
