She was still crying
when last i saw her
lying on the footpath looking
at all the people passing by
waiting for someone to come up
and hold her hands
feed her a handful rice
make her drink
a glassful of water

She was still bleeding
from the wound that she
received from an accident
that brought a nice looking
girl to fall ignored
on the footpath
by the side of the pothole
weeping with pain and despair

she was still hopeful
to make it to her home
may be she was waited
by her mother, may be she
wanted her lap
she was still lying there
when I returned on the same way
back from my work

I wanted to hold her hands and
feed her some food
but I did not wish her to die
on my hands
because I hate death
Death is so ugly
Death is so bad
How can it capture the life
of such a sweet girl

Had she been unhurt
may be she would have played
may be she would jump
and sing along the same
foot path where she is lying
I have seen her many times
go along this way

She is still lying there
as I watch her being carried by
the Mortuary van
her eyes wide open
looking at a me
a man who could not feed her
few drops of water
gave her a few more moments of life
to enjoy a night of moon....
