I took my pen,
I wrote the words,
I gave you the credit,
You deserved.
I didn't lie,
Exaggerate.
I didn't cry,
Or turn to hate.
I kept in check,
Told only truth,
But without emotion,
It wasn't much use.
I laid it out,
The whole sad story,
I gave me evil,
Where I gave you glory.
I cast the parts,
Complete bias.
They called it art,
I called it crisis.
Our story resides,
In a thousand books,
About a princess,
And a crook,
Who steals a heart,
And becomes the king,
He plays his part,
We rot in wings.
When curtains close,
And people clap,
We count our woes,
And curse our traps.
For all our charms,
And our assets,
We raised alarms,
And set caskets.
Now we play,
Second fiddle,
But the crowd went deaf,
In the middle.

Sad stuff, but not nearly as set in stone as it once was. Women, just like you, with a voice and exceptional minds, have changed the pattern forever.
Excellent!
Not sure exactly how I missed these odes. Slap me! :)

I couldn't bring myself to slap you, you're turning into great fan material ;) It's true the world is becoming more "modern" but really I think that's what they tell us to come down. crazy women and all ;) But if you really take a CLOSE look at things, you can see misogynists still going strong and sexism still being used as a control method. I'm definitely thankful for the march for equality and all it's accomplished but still, inequality is there. Women aren't prepped for complete housewivery anymore, but your still frowned upon for taking a job over kids, women are still sexualized to determine value, and seriously, ever see a man on a cleaning commercial? There are so many examples but I don't want to get nasty or, god forbid, nag ;) The truth is, womens' value decreases with age while a man's increases. Ah, now I've created a rant. Uhm, thanks for commenting :D ;)
