Having been born in a supposed capitalist country that has had the same president for 33 years, one would be forgiven for not having much faith in the government.
So today I find myself in a foreign country searching for 'greener pastures' as the cliche goes. Not that there is much to graze on the other side of the bridge.
However, my fellow countrymen defiant inspite of the malevolent circumstances still file into the voting polls. Braving the merciless Zimbabwean heat and the just as malicious fear for their lives.
Why do they even bother? People often ask me, in all honesty there isn't a simple answer to such a question, except maybe hope.
Hope that a new president can help ease the pain of the permanent abrasion that has been put on us gradually for 33years. Hope that we can be better.
So every four years my brothers and sisters cast their votes. We sit infront of our televisions both buoyant and terrified and we hope..
