Dedicated to my Great Grandmother, Pauline. It's suppose to be a sonnet, so the last two lines might stick out a bit.

A Loved one Lost

By: Abby Tracy

I came to see you today,

But forgot that you had gone.

I came to see you because I had something to say,

To tell you before the dawn.

I wanted to tell you of how I’ve been,

Of my dreams, aspirations, and thoughts.

I wish I could go to the day back when,

Your undying love was all I sought.

I can’t remember you any more,

Not your songs, laughter or your face.

How I long to go back to before,

When you held me in your comforting embrace.

I came to see you, but only found your grave,

But I could not cry, for I wanted to be brave.
