That Journey

With a big smile on face and her head on her husband’s shoulder, she was talking to her husband. Her husband was also looking very excited about their recently happened marriage and his happiness was easily visible on his face.

It is an incidence of that day when I was going from Indore to Ujjain in the general compartment of a train. It was a part of my daily routine to travel between Ujjain and Indore by train, as my college was there in Indore. It was 6:00 PM on the clock. That day, that two hour journey by a local train from Indore to Ujjain was not looking that worthless to me as it used to look every day. There were two newly married couples in the train, one right in front of my seat and the other was sitting next to me on my seat. It seemed that those two couples were relatives of each other or perhaps they were friends. The couple next to me on my seat was looking very happy with their marriage. Their talks, expressions, body language and everything were indicating that. Wife, with a sweet voice, asked her husband to take some rest. But the husband was comfortable sitting at his place. It was just 15 minutes after departure of train and wife hold her husband’s hand tightly.  As his wife holds his hand, husband also moved a bit closer to her. Although they were quite when they were doing all this but I could sense the feeling of naughty love which they had for each other. Such kind of behavior in a crowded train was indicating that they were not much bothered about the people looking at them and were busy in enjoying their love. After about half an hour, wife started feeling sleepy. She kept her head on her husband’s shoulder and was trying to sleep. Perhaps the excitement of keeping her head on her husband’s shoulder was not letting her sleep. You can see such kind of excitement and behavior in almost every newly married couple. The couple sitting in front of me was even more romantic. There was a smile on the face of wife (from the couple sitting in front of me) which she did not lose even for a second. It seemed as if there was competition between the two couples that which one is more happy and romantic. However the feelings of love and happiness of both the couples were real. As soon as the upper birth got vacant, wife (from the couple sitting next to me on my seat) again asked her husband to take some rest on that vacant upper birth. But the husband was not ready to move even for a second. Perhaps he did not want to miss the lovely touch of her wife. Without caring even a little for the people, both couples were converting an otherwise worthless and ordinary journey into a memorable journey. In today’s busy life, it is difficult to plan or create some big memorable moments. So it is better to find and enjoy such small moments and make them memorable.

The two hour journey passed in two minutes. I could not take my mind away from them even for a moment. Somebody told me that my destination, Ujjain, had arrived. I had to step out of train, although I didn’t want to as I wanted to keep feeling the warmth of love which they were sharing with each other.

Later, on the way for home I again saw some more newly married couples. Similar feelings took birth in my heart. In this big world, these newly married couples have always been a matter of my notice and interest. Perhaps, this is an indication of an unfulfilled wish of mine.
