Songs fade into the twilight
As the unnerving silence starts to set in
Church bells ring in the distant
Each note signaling
The beginning of this broken hymn
Angry footsteps echo loudly
Off the shattered glass and lead,
While the bulwark of shields line up
To defend a truth lost and locked in sin
Fists raised to the skies become allies
With the chorus of voices
Weaving in and out
To battle hateful choices
Trying to expunge the injustice
They feel has befallen on the nation
Challenging the law to see if
They will fight back this connation
Representing their belief
In the rights they are compelled
Taking a stand against the issue
They feel that should be expelled
But the law decides to take it in its own hands
Waving weapons and disrupting the stands
Bodies fall and blood spills onto the streets
All victims of a force trying to avoid defeat
(The cry) “The whole world is watching!” falls onto deaf ears
As the beatings continue along with the tears
The fallen torch lays waiting for a worthy carrier
To place it back inside these thriving, unbroken barriers
