My third poem. Tried rhyming with this effort. I am a father and felt entitled to do some creative thinking in this direction.

He opened his eyes to his life

This day matured beyond the petty optimism of first light

His thoughts grew varied with experience and fright

He wanted more time to explore to adjust

The day would not relinquish his past errors or lust

The future was his to build with memories his to complete

All this experience was now replete

The accomplishments begged for adulation

They seldom received their just compensation

The loved ones have become a valued asset

His day is now more than just one sunset
