A VIEW A WOMAN HAS FROM A BED IN A HOTEL SUITE

HEAVENLY VIEW

I stayed at a resort last year

So high up, I felt a small fear

I never wanted to get real close

To the window, heights I fear most

We had been there a few days

Early one morning I woke in a haze

I leaned up, but didn’t get too near

To see what the fuss was about being up here

I looked over from the edge of my bed

Joy and peace is what filled my head

I was up above the clouds as the fog rolled in

Up here I couldn’t be touched by sin

No, I haven’t been to Heaven’s gate

Not sure if that’s my fate

But this view from where I sit

May just be as close as I get

Sounds like the elation from overcoming heights has eased a bit of fright. When I was young my aunt lived in the city on the 56th floor, I used to look over the ledge and I think that's where my fear of heights came from. Maybe someday I'll get over it. Good poem.
