Depression...loneliness...fear. The day may ward the demons for a time, but when darkness falls upon you, the demons are harder to keep restrained. The devil’s playground is just a sleepless night away.

The silence of this room is drowning,
The thoughts in my skull keep pounding,
Like a screen door holding back smoke,
They seep out with every jab and every poke.

The light grows dim and my vision fades,
The voices grow louder as I wander in shades,
The demons once locked are now free,
Like black mist as they come to devour me.

The dreams that once were are now black,
No rest comes to me, a regular insomniac,
For now that I’m alone with myself, I see,
The devil exists, inside of you and in me.

In the mirror, I see his twisted face,
He stares and laughs as I wander and pace,
For you see no matter how hard I try to escape,
He follows me as I walk and as I lay awake.

All seems as if a lost cause,
For no matter how good, we all have our flaws,
Just accept there is a dark side to us all,
The trick is walking in the dark and not to fall.

For with every darkness, there is a light,
So rest your head and fight through the night,
Do not give in and don’t give up on the fight,
For if there’s a demon to your left, there is an ____angel to your right.

For all the broken and flawed people out there that have their demons and crosses to bare. Know that you are not the only ones that feel overwhelmed with life.  Stumble through the dark awhile longer...the light is brightest in the darkest places.
