A poem about how my fiance saved me from the way I was

I was 17, you were 22

I had a heavy heart and nothing to lose

Until the day that I met you

I felt like I was drowning in the sea

Frantically gasping for air

But you turned up and rescued me

You showed me that you care

My mind used to be lethal and deadly

If you’d heard my thoughts they would scare you to death

But you prevented me from going crazy

You put me on the right path

I am so thankful to have you in my life

But I wish I had known you when my life was that way

Because you could have put everything right

Before it went awry

But better late than never, as they say

Good things come to those who wait

I have you now, and you are here to stay

Nothing in life is ever too late
