A folk tale

I remember an interesting folk tale about contradiction of what one preaches and what one does.

The tale goes like this. In old days, in a remote village there was a religious preacher who used to go door to door to ask people to come and pray in the mosque. One night he knocked on a door and a man named Ahmad emerged and paid his respect to the preacher. The preacher told him to join him in prayer in the mosque. Ahmad said he can't because it's not safe to leave his wife and young children as bandits could raid his home any time.

"Put your trust in God as He will save your wife and children", roared the preacher urging the man to come. Ahmad obeyed and took his camel with him and followed the preacher. The preacher was able to bring about a dozen of people with him. Once near the mosque, the man with the camel took the leash and tried to tie it to the wall that had hooks for this purpose.

"Put your trust in God as He will save your camel" roared the preacher again urging Ahmad not to tie the camel. Ahmad obeyed and went towards the mosque. As is the custom, anybody entering the mosque must take his/her shoes off and place it on shelves at mosque's entrance. The preacher was leading his newly recruits into the mosque; he took of his shoes, but placed them under his arms as he walked inside the mosque. Ahmad who was just behind him shouted.

"Put your trust in God as he will save your shoes", exclaimed Ahmad.

"Only God knows what will happen to my shoes if I leave them here, so I don't want to take any chance", replied the preacher.

Ahmad responded, "You asked me to leave my beloved wife, my precious children and my expensive camel behind telling me God will save them and now you yourself even don't want to leave your old and dirty shoes behind?", said Ahmad with an angry laughter.

The preacher didn't say anything, shook his head and walked into the mosque with his old shoes under his arms.
