Our Appreciation

Like the faithful fire which forges the sharpest of swords,

You mould the raw steel of our minds into a blade.

With years’ worth of patience and an indulgent smile,

You fashion a garden out of a wild glade.

Time has honored teachers in many ways,

But our manner is simple and resources few.

All we can offer is sincere appreciation,

And say a modest “Thank you”.

The debt we have incurred can never be repaid,

For knowledge is wealth beyond the rarest pearl.

With this poem, we hope our gratitude is conveyed,

For it is time for us to step out and watch the world unfurl.

Years ahead, our faces will fade,

Disappearing amongst the hundreds that you teach.

But rest assured that even after a decade,

You shall forever remain within our memory’s reach.

T’is now that we shyly court your blessings,

The realization of our eminent departure keen.

We hope that we have incited more smiles than frowns,

And thank you, what an excellent journey it’s been.
