The Saturdays at Rochester Castle – 16th July 2010
Support Acts - The Wanted, DJ Ironik and Diversity.
Everything about this show, from the picturesque, clean and well prepared venue, to the actual live music itself, was truly one of the best live acts I have seen!
The Saturdays, a girlband consisting of Frankie, Mollie, Rochelle, Una and Vannessa, have clocked up nine smash hits, including 8 top ten’s, in the space of just 2 and a half years!
Being a genuine fan of them myself, I’d always wanted to go see them live, having missed their UK tour, ‘The Work Tour’ in 2009.
Arriving at the venue, I half expected to see hundreds of young girls under the age of ten, all including their parents. But to my joy, most of the crowd were my age, which is 16, or above!
The support acts were the best I have seen, new boy band The Wanted went down a storm with the girls in the crowd, as well as appealing to the boys with their cool, not too choreographed performance. DJ Ironik certainly got the crowd warmed up, and Diversity, having performed dance routines from their upcoming UK tour, were spectacularly polished and reminded the crowd just why they won Britains Got Talent in the first place!
Then came the performance from The Saturdays. The girls managed to get the crowd jumping and screaming with their opener of ‘Just Can’t get enough’, and followed on with a musically cool set list of songs; a mixture of the best ones from all three of their albums. The girls slick dance routines and killer vocals shone all night long, never lip-synching, never forgetting lyrics or messing up dances. The girl’s fierce performance was by far the best girl band performance I have ever seen, and they engaged with the crowd very well!
During the show, a camera man came on stage and filmed part of the show for their television ITV2 Documentary ‘The Saturdays 24:7’, which was a great surprise for the crowd, and Una even played the guitar for a couple of the slower songs.
Overall, this was a fantastic show and I would highly recommend The Saturdays to anyone who wants an exciting live show, with girls who really can sing amazingly both in harmony and individually!
