~
Growin' up you never know
Which way to turn, which road to take.
What on earth had we been thinkin'
Before some choices we would make?
Years grew on, some have scattered,
Some of us held on,
Wonderin' what does really matter
And tryin' to stay strong.
Thirty years now, some have died,
And for others we've surely cried.
What makes a friendship last so long?
What power holds it up so long?
Thirty years from now I pray
We'll still be looking back to say:
We lived, we loved, we learned, we played.
We danced, matured, and sometimes strayed.
But all in all God kept us safe
Through His most amazing grace.
Each night I pray before I sleep,
I thank Him for a friend to keep.

What a wonderful testament to friendship. It must have meant so much to her for you to take the time to let her know.

Thankyou Jerry (smile) nice of you to take the time. yes it's not that I don't have anything to post it's just that there is so much going on with both work and christmas. yup, and to hang on to them is great ^_^
there were so many of us back then and now
we are finding our way back to each other it seems.
just like the rain that falls and gets lost only to come together again in the sea ^_^
well, yes freindship is something else aint it though?
you come together for reasons other than simple attraction; there is a power that holds freinships and binds them.
I think it is because we were meant to be here together it is beyond our choice lol ^_^
i wish i could keep reading ur posts again and again and each time, i get to learn something new...something revealing...from ur kind soul

haha, well I think you are up late again and need to go to sleep (wink, wink) lol.
its so nice to you, both you and Urja have come back on the same night...its wonderful Prati. It has been very, very slow, and very quiet. I have been quiet; in reflection I guess. I am a little lonesome lately or scared maybe and so it is so good to see you guys, I love you both bunches :)
Beautiful poem, it does make us wonder how friendships do hold up so long. For me it also made me realize that I assume my friends will be with me forever, perhaps because the thought of them leaving is too difficult to digest. I think you did a wonderful job and I'm glad I got to read it, thanks.
Tue, December 2nd, 2008 9:42amVery nice poem. "We lived, we loved, we learned, we played. We danced, matured, and sometimes strayed." I like the way you put it. I'm still waiting for that friend.

i loved it immensely....its full of the essence of frndship..... and frnds are the best treasures of our lives and we keep them safe with us
Great work Katie, I wonder what makes a friendship last that long as well. I am 31 and my oldest frined is from Primary school. We don't see much of each other though, but when in need I am blessed to know she's there. We are so blessed to have that. Thank you for acknowledging Kim at least letting her know she's loved & valued. Stay blessed.

Also, God gives us all beautiful gifts in Life. Especially Family & Friends, we hope to keep :)

I prefer web-friends to folk knocking on my door: just how I am. In truth, I am selfish with my time, this is my big failing in life, I love doing what I do and resist intrusions from others. But web-friends, love em, best friends I got are here on booksie. Good thought provoking poem that made me asses my own take on friends, nice one Katie.

Paul all my life until 2004 (when I moved out here into the land of cornfields lol) I had physical friends.
Many of which passed away. Since joining booksie in 07, it opened a whole new world to me of friends across the universe. My god I have never been so connected!
Even more closer to some of my web friends than the physical friends I have left.
Thanks for chat :-)
This poem is so beautifully composed,I m bit angry on myself why I did not read it before. It's really beautiful Air.U ve a skill in writing. The warmth of a real friend is pouring out of your work.
