I am not a color.

I am not a stereotype.

I am me.

I am the person I choose to be.

I am the person my parents raised me to be.

I am the person society made me.

But regardless of any other opinion,

What I choose to believe is mine.

What you choose to believe is yours.

We can’t ignore our differences.

However, I will respect them.

I only ask that you respect mine.

We can’t change what we were born with.

It’s a shame to see such hatred for our own skin.

Hatred will never leave.

It is an endless curse that comes with intelligence.

But there are wounds that still need to heal.

Together we need to heal.

We need to take responsibility for our own downfalls.

Our mistakes are our own.

You are my brethren,

My family.

I can only wish that you could see it too.

See the foolishness of your ways.

See that this hate is pointless.

The only difference between us is the one that doesn’t matter.

Just know that even if you hate me,

Loathe me,

Wish me dead,

I will always love you,

Because hate cannot combat hate.

Fire cannot put out a flame.

And we will only see eye to eye,

When we both realize that this hate is nonsense.
