Through the thatched maze, I arise,

Erect against the crowd; Stance fixed.

Their eyes slit, just as their tongues

Pupils amplifying their hunger.

Inspecting their meal; I was prey

Those vicious vipers think they’re sly,

tickled with their tight tongues

The masks they hide behind

Their scales and Hyde, I see

Should I retreat and risk death, my weary soul?

Give them victory?

They may take me,

But I will be the bitter bite.

Through the thatched maze, I arise,

But not above the cover; Guarded

Eyes piercing; my flesh; responds

Skin forming bumps encapsulating

Creatures on me; crawling

Those vicious vipers think they’re sly,

pleased with their prideful pack,

The slit tongues they snap

Whipped again nowhere to hide

They fill me with venom, but it does not keep

My spirit; Strong

They can’t take me,

I will not be prey, Amen.
