What? A new housing development? Why? I am going to be felled? But Why?, when I have been around so long and provided shade for so many people. I am the tallest tree in the park. People often have picnics under me while their children hang from the tire-swing that has been hung from my branches. I saw and I have heard, they want to cut me down. Destroy the homes of birds, squirrels and raccoons, and other various animals that have placed their homes in my care. And why are they doing this? all for dreams and money. I have been around for thirty years and not once have they had a problem with me. In the winter, they hang lights all around me and make me look pretty and not once did I complain. Ni, but now I will be destroyed chopped down and turned into paper so that children can write on me in schools, or better yet, I will be tossed into the woods and burnt into ashes and that will be the last of me. I thought they cared but I guess they didn't, greed and money has taken over them and they are blind. I was the main source of attraction; I was love but no, no more. I will be forgotten. No more shade will I provide, no more precious animals will I hide. It's all about the money isn't it? All about the money.
